Josefa Gonzalez Mariscal is a personal property appraiser and consultant specializing in Fine Art with emphasis in Latin American & Spanish Colonial art. She grew up and studied in Mexico City and now resides in Texas. Josefa is an experienced arts & culture administrator and consultant. She has been a cultural center director, art museum president, history museum director of interpretation, Cultural Attaché, art curator, lecturer, and board leader in nonprofit and cultural organizations. Josefa has lectured and published on Spanish Colonial art. She has been an expert witness in legal cases and has helped identify artworks for US Customs and the FBI. Josefa does consulting on foreign patrimony laws and provenance issues. Her Latin American expertise had led her to work in a complex art market where currency fluctuations and controls, export restrictions and patrimonial laws affect value. Josefa is an alumna of the NYU appraisal studies program. She is a certified member of the Appraisers Association of America.
