Galerie Maria Wettergren was founded by Maria Wettergren in 2010 in the Saint Germain district of Paris. Ten years later, she opened a new space on the rue Vieille-du-Temple in the Marais. The gallery is specialized in contemporary art and design by predominantly Scandinavian artists, who focus on interdisciplinary dialogues between art, design, architecture and crafts. Galerie Maria Wettergren represents a selection of the most significant and pioneering artists from Northern Europe in this cross-over field, notably in the domain of textile art, such as Gjertrud Hals, Hanne Friis, Astrid Krogh, Grethe Soerensen and Cecilie Bendixen. The gallery prides itself of various important museum collaborations and sales to the Centre Pompidou, Paris; Smithsonian Cooper Hewitt Museum, New York; National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne, and Mudac, Lausanne, among others. Maria Wettergren has been included in the Power 100 of Art + Auction and has received the Finn Juhl Architecture Prize for the promotion of Scandinavian artists on the international art scene.
