Avery Galleries was founded in 2001 by Richard Rossello, our principal, and Washburn Oberwager, who retired in 2012. After a career in the restaurant business, Richard, a lifelong art collector, began his new venture as an art dealer, guided by his entrepreneurial nature and business acumen. He aspired to open the type of art gallery that he, as a client, would want to acquire art from. In 2002, our long-standing director and senior partner, Nicole Amoroso joined Richard. Nicole's invaluable museum experience and art historical knowledge led Avery Galleries to become a key player in the field—a gallery defined by thought-provoking exhibitions, enduring relationships, and a renowned inventory. A formidable duo, Richard and Nicole welcomed assistant director and junior partner Laura Adams in 2013, who continues to be an essential part of Avery Galleries. Now, we have entered an exciting new chapter. In 2024, our new Director, New York and partner, Chloe Heins, came to Avery Galleries with over 20 years of gallery experience, along with her infectious enthusiasm for American art, and her defining dedication to clients.
