--> About | COL Gallery | contemporary art gallery | Ghirardelli Square | San Francisco top of page Skip to Main Content "For sculpture is that spatial, gap-between, that col between mountain peaks. Sculpture is that implied absence, that almost-clarity about not-quite-confusion. Sculpture is that dissonance. The dissonance, I mean, of intersecting and conflicting chunks of human meaning cut into an historicized world. The dissonance, that is to say, of art. " — RICHARD NONAS (1936–2021) COL Gallery is a project-based, contemporary gallery founded in 2023 by Callie Jones and Julia Li in Ghirardelli Square, San Francisco, a bayside landmark since 1862, a Lawrence Halprin-designed community space, and home of Ruth Asawa's first public work. COL is named in honor of the late sculptor Richard Nonas. bottom of page
