About – Article 15 Gallery About Us A Celebration of Contemporary Congolese Art Gallery Article 15, founded in 2022, is a unique gallery specializing in contemporary Congolese art. Located in the historic Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, DC, Gallery Article 15 features an extensive collection of contemporary Congolese art by emerging, mid-career and established artists. We work directly with the artists as part of a collaborative process. Gallery Article 15’s Young Artists Collective (“Collectif A15”) helps support emerging artistic talent in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) gain exposure to the U.S. art market through promotion, technical assistance and material support. Part of these efforts include the organization of exhibitions in the DRC as well as sale of selected works through the gallery. The gallery hosts regular exhibitions of contemporary Congolese art representing a diversity of styles and techniques. Gallery Article 15 also actively promotes Congolese art and culture through special events and programs. Programs have included collaborations and exhibitions with the Mission of the African Union to the United States as well as Alliance Française, among others. The gallery was founded by Elizabeth Jaffee, who first fell in love with contemporary Congolese art in 2008 while serving at the U.S. Embassy in Kinshasa (DRC) during her previous career as a Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. Department of State.…
