--> About | MEGUMI OGITA GALLERY top of page Skip to Main Content Photo: Yukihiro Sugimori MEGUMI OGITA GALLERY Since the establishment in Tokyo in 2007, MEGUMI OGITA GALLERY has introduced the artists who are particular about the finish of their works, using traditional techniques and materials, as well as artists who convey their passion for expression, such as graffiti, both in Japan and overseas. There were remarkable artists in Japan, and the works were nurtured by their outstanding commitment even before the modern era, when the concept of art did not exist here. For example, the making of Buddhist statues was sublimated into rich expression through exploration, and resulted in a unique world. The artists did not end up with conceptual novelty or realistic techniques, and aimed to create works that bring surprise and enjoyment when the viewer encountered, by honing their skills to draw out the full appeal of the shape, even if the motif was familiar. We hope to showcase a wide range of expressions that move the heart with modern and contemporary Japanese artists in this genealogy, as well as overseas artists who share commonalities with them.
