For eight years, he hosted The Art Review on London Live TV and features on British Airways’ inflight programming. Spear’s 500 Magazine recognised him as a Top Art Advisor in Investment and Contemporary Art, 2023. He is the Chairman of Nicholls Art Group in London and was a Co-Founder and Chairman of the Maddox Gallery Group. James has presented a range of television programmes, including The Queen’s Paintings from Buckingham Palace and Royal Portraits. He also created and hosted The Next Big Thing, a TV series that provided a platform for emerging artists during the pandemic. He covers a diverse spectrum, from Old Masters to Modern and Contemporary Art. James is a Patron of the Royal Academy of Arts and Dulwich Picture Gallery in London. ​ Originally from New Zealand, he has lived in Australia, Southeast Asia, and Dallas, Texas, before settling in London and the South of France in 1995.
