While our gallery is not directly connected to the ancient Benin Kingdom, the name stands as an honour to its enduring influence on African creativity. The Benin spirit reminds us of where we come from a place of mastery, imagination, and resilience. At The Benin Art Gallery, our focus is on modern and contemporary African art. We showcase and support artists who express the richness and diversity of the African experience through bold ideas, new forms, and authentic voices. Our mission is to nurture creativity, strengthen the art ecosystem, and preserve the legacies of Africa’s celebrated masters visionary figures such as Ben Enwonwu, Yusuf Grillo, Professor Uche Okeke, Professor Solomon Wangboje, Bruce Onobrakpeya, Ablade Glover, Ibrahim El Salahi and El Anatsui.
