The James A. Michener Art Museum in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, is presenting the exhibition 'Small Living Things: The Magical Art of Eric Carle.' A new contemporary art gallery called Connelly Martin is opening with two locations: one in Austin, Texas, and another in Ketchum, Idaho, near the Sun Valley ski resort. Founded by Bailey Connelly and Lily Martin, the gallery will feature emerging and mid-career artists, with each location hosting five exhibitions annually. The Austin space opens February 13, followed by the Sun Valley location on July 11, and the gallery plans two pop-ups each year in different towns. The inaugural show in both spaces will be a group exhibition, including work by Austin textile artist Elizabeth Hohimer.
Florida State University Museum of Fine Arts (MoFA) has opened "Water Ways: Indigenous Ecologies and Florida Heritage," an exhibition examining Indigenous relationships with water through historical artifacts and contemporary art. Curated by Elizabeth A. Cecil, the show features works by Harold García V (El Quinto), Samboleap Tol, and Wilson Bowers, alongside ancient cypress dugout canoes, ceramics, tools, and a mask from the New Orleans Museum of Art. Two Selves Gallery in Troy, New York, opened a new exhibition titled "Coming Out of Darkness: Landscapes of Presence" by artist Patricia Wood during the April Troy Night Out event. The show, on display through May, is divided into three sections: a series of acrylic paintings on black velvet depicting forest scenes from the Adirondacks, a middle section featuring reference photos, miniatures, encaustic works, and mental health resources, and a front section with oil paintings of Winnie the Pooh characters and Wood's jewelry. Wood describes the exhibition as a personal journey through depression, using light and dark to convey her struggle and recovery.
