Art Basel Qatar Announces Artistic Director and Theme for 2027 Edition

Art Basel Qatar has appointed Iraqi curator Wassan Al-Khudhairi as artistic director for its second edition, scheduled for January 28–30, 2027, in Doha. The fair will be themed “between / بين,” exploring states of betweenness and fluid cultural encounters, and will feature a scaled-up Special Projects sector with large-scale, site-specific works, alongside solo gallery presentations. Al-Khudhairi, a specialist in modern and contemporary Arab art, previously served as founding director of Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art in Doha and held curatorial roles at the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis.

Texas Vignette announces call for women artists to join 2026 Vignette Art Fair Sept. 30-Oct. 3 at On The Levee

Texas Vignette has announced an open call for Texas women artists to participate in the eighth annual Vignette Art Fair, scheduled for September 30 to October 3, 2026, at On The Levee in the Dallas Design District. Alison de Lima Greene, the Isabel Brown Wilson Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, will curate the juried exhibition. Submissions open May 26 through June 26, with a $36 fee, and selected artists will be notified by August 17. The fair is free to the public on October 2-3, with ticketed preview events including a Patron Welcome Dinner and a Preview Benefit.

First-Ever Atrium Gallery Exhibition honors Texas Trailblazing Women at McKinney Cotton Mill

MillHouse Foundation, in partnership with Cotton Mill Partners, has launched the inaugural America 250: Texas Trailblazing Wonder Women Exhibition at the newly opened Atrium Gallery inside the McKinney Cotton Mill Arts and Design District in McKinney, Texas. Running from June 12 through August 26, the exhibition features 24 large-scale original works by Texas artists honoring influential Texas women such as Barbara Jordan, Lady Bird Johnson, Ann Richards, Simone Biles, Beyoncé, and Selena Quintanilla. All artworks are available for purchase, and a Meet the Artists Reception on June 27 will announce award recipients including the $5,000 Texas Trailblazer Award.
