The Whitney Museum of American Art hosted its sold-out 2026 Art Party, a fundraiser organized by the Whitney Contemporaries and co-chaired by comedian Ego Nwodim, artists Martine Gutierrez and Emma Safir, patrons Steven Beltrani and Alexander Hankin, and stylist Micaela Erlanger. The event transformed the museum's ground floor into a dance floor with DJ sets by the Dare and artist Raúl de Nieves, attracting a crowd that included First Lady of New York Rama Duwaji, Martha Stewart, artists Sasha Gordon and Frank WANG Yefeng, and curators Chrissie Iles and Christiane Paul.

Seeing beyond: Issam Kourbaj on mentoring three young artists for Abu Dhabi Art

Artist Issam Kourbaj is curating and mentoring three emerging UAE-based artists—Salmah Almansoori, Maktoum Al Maktoum, and Alla Abdunabi—for the Beyond Emerging Artists programme at Abu Dhabi Art, which runs November 19–23 at Manarat al-Saadiyat. The artists are creating new works for the fair and separate outdoor installations in Al Ain, including at historical sites like Al Ain Oasis and Jebel Hafeet Tombs, with the outdoor pieces on view for six months. Kourbaj, a Syrian-born artist based in Cambridge, selected the trio for their diverse materials and shared focus on place and memory.

Above & Beyond, Wisconsin folk artist will explore Mexican immigrant experience in next cultural exhibit

Above & Beyond Children's Museum (ABCM) in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, will host a listening session on May 4, 2025, as it prepares the second iteration of its Culture Exchange Exhibit, this time focusing on the Mexican immigrant experience. The museum is partnering with Gabriela Marván, a Mexican artist from Viroqua and co-founder of the Mexican Folk Art Collective, who specializes in cartonería (paper sculpture). Marván will create monumental alebrijes, an ofrenda altar, and papel picado for the exhibit, which will be installed in November. The project also includes workshops, Aztec dance, bilingual story times, and loteria games, aiming to engage visitors in Mexican folk traditions over several years.

Museum of the African Diaspora Marks 10 Years of Its Emerging Artists Program

The Museum of the African Diaspora (MoAD) in San Francisco is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its Emerging Artists Program (EAP) by announcing its 2026-2027 cohort. Selected from hundreds of applicants, Bay Area artists Jasmine Ross, Demetri Broxton, Dorian Reid, and Tahirah Rasheed will each receive a fully supported solo exhibition at the museum. The program, which has supported 30 artists since 2015, provides crucial institutional backing, including curatorial guidance and production resources, to creatives at pivotal career moments.
