Indian Art In London: Sakshi Gallery Marks 40 Years With Landmark Show By Contemporary Indian Artists This June

Sakshi Gallery, a Mumbai-based gallery founded in 1986 by Geetha Mehra, is presenting a contemporary art show titled 'Unfolding Narratives: Perspectives in Contemporary Indian Art' at London's Mall Galleries from June 30 to July 8, 2026, marking its 40th anniversary. The exhibition features works by six artists—Amit Ambalal, Manjunath Kamath, Ravinder Reddy, Rekha Rodwittiya, Shine Shivan, and Surendran Nair—with several pieces created specifically for the show. It serves as a prelude to a larger institutional exhibition planned for 2027 in London.

Annual Southwest Washington Juried Exhibition opens on July 6

The 2026 Southwest Washington Juried Exhibition will open on July 6 at the Leonor R. Fuller Gallery, located at the Kenneth J. Minnaert Center for the Arts on the South Puget Sound Community College Olympia Campus. The exhibition runs through August 27, with an opening reception on July 9. Allison Hyde, an artist, teacher, gallery director, and curator, has been selected as the guest juror. Artists residing in ten specified Washington counties are invited to submit works in all media for consideration.

Langkawi becomes an open canvas for contemporary art

Langkawi, Malaysia, is hosting the 29th Bakat Muda Sezaman (BMS29) showcase, transforming the island into an open-air gallery through July 26, 2026. Contemporary artworks and performances are installed in unexpected public locations such as padi fields, jetties, beaches, the Kuah public market, and Dataran Lang, featuring installations, digital art, and interactive works by emerging artists. The National Art Gallery director-general Amerrudin Ahmad stated the initiative aims to bring contemporary art closer to the public by moving beyond conventional gallery spaces.
