Krannert Art Museum reopening highlights gallery reinstallations, artist Ronny Quevedo exhibition

Krannert Art Museum in Champaign, Illinois, is reopening on August 28 with a major reinstallation of its Andean gallery, featuring the exhibition "Fragmented Histories: Andean Art Before 1600." The gallery, co-curated by Kasia Szremski and Allyson Purpura, moves away from a linear display to explore the mobility of objects, their histories of looting, and their ongoing cultural significance. The reopening also includes a solo exhibition by contemporary artist Ronny Quevedo, titled "Ronny Quevedo: a l l s t a r s," and reinstallations of European and American art in the Bow and Trees galleries.

Celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month at the DAM

The Denver Art Museum (DAM) is celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15–October 15) by showcasing several exhibitions featuring works by artists from Latin America, Spain, and the Caribbean. Key exhibitions include "A Century of Art in Latin America," which presents a comprehensive survey of Latin American art over the past 100 years, featuring masters like Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo, and José Clemente Orozco; "Confluence of Nature: Nancy Hemenway Barton," displaying textile sculptures and works on paper by the late multidisciplinary artist; "Ink & Thread: Codices and the Art of Storytelling," highlighting contemporary codices by Enrique Chagoya and the Tillett Tapestry; and "Painting in the Andes, 1680–1780," exploring colonial-era art from Andean centers. All exhibitions are included with general admission, which is free for visitors 18 and under.

The Denver Art Museum celebrates A Century of Art in Latin America

The Denver Art Museum (DAM) has announced its upcoming Fox Gallery exhibition, *A Century of Art in Latin America*, opening June 15, 2025, and running through June 15, 2027. The exhibition will be held in the Latin American Art galleries on level four of the museum’s Martin Building and is included in general admission, which is free for visitors 18 and under and for museum members. Featuring works exclusively from the John and Sandy Fox Collection, the show includes sculptures, paintings, textiles, prints, and mixed media pieces spanning the 20th and 21st centuries, offering a broad survey of artistic movements across the region.

Denver Art Museum Announces Mexican Modernism Exhibition with Artworks by Celebrated Artists Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera

The Denver Art Museum announced an upcoming exhibition titled "Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, and Mexican Modernism from the Jacques and Natasha Gelman Collection," featuring over 150 artworks by Kahlo, Rivera, and their contemporaries including Lola Alvarez Bravo, Gunther Gerzso, María Izquierdo, and Carlos Mérida. Organized by MondoMostre and curated locally by Rebecca Hart, the show will run from October 25, 2020, to January 17, 2021, in the museum's Anschutz and Martin & McCormick Galleries, highlighting the role of art and indigenous culture in forging national identity after the Mexican Revolution.
