NEXT in the Gallery: Pittsburgh in December is a sprawling winter carnival of art

Pittsburgh's visual artists are transforming the city into a sprawling winter carnival throughout December 2025, with a packed calendar of exhibitions and events. Highlights include Sharmistha Ray's three-channel animation "Emergent Realities" at Wood Street Galleries (Dec. 12–July 5, 2026), featuring a commissioned soundtrack by Grammy-winning composer Arooj Aftab; Mary Mazziotti's satirical textile series "Thank You for Your Attention to This Matter" at BE Galleries (Dec. 6–Jan. 31, 2026); and Offroute Art's "Crisis of Empathy // Limit of Empathy" showcasing eight young artists. Wood Street Galleries also partners with Visual AIDS for Day With(out) Art 2025 on Dec. 3, presenting videos exploring drug users and HIV crisis. The month kicks off with holiday markets and arcades, and includes a Neapolitan nativity scene exhibit and an art battle in Sharpsburg.

18 Artists Reimagine Angels in Brooklyn Exhibition

Angel Archives, a Brooklyn-based collective founded in 2025 by Emma Long and Audrey Roloff, will present its group exhibition 'Angels' on July 17 at Studio 45 in East Williamsburg. The show features 18 artists working across various mediums, each reimagining angels as protectors, guides, and spiritual presences. Themes include grief, sacred imagery, purity, and the tension between the unreachable and the real. Featured artists include Audrey Roloff, Ashley Walia, Autumn Kidd, Charlie Rudalavage, Claire Porter Manning, EC Brooks, Eden Weinstein, Emma Long, Fiona Murphy, Jade Groobman, Julia Rose, Kaden Bard Dawson, Megan Liz Smith, Sara Carlsen, Sharon Yalan Li, pszygy, Why? Why Not? Because!, Henry Davis, and Charlotte Davis.

Well-known Manx artist to showcase her latest work in new exhibition

Eileen Schaer, a well-known Manx artist, will open her latest exhibition 'Small Paintings' at Studio 42 in Port St Mary, Isle of Man, on October 19. The show features 28 new gouache paintings created over the past two years, marking her first solo exhibition in two years. Studio 42 owner Eben Carswell describes the works as dreamlike, imaginative, and harmonious, blending animals and humans in joyful dreamscapes.
