Shenzhen International Museum of Art to open Saturday

The Shenzhen International Museum of Art (SIMoA) will officially open to the public on Saturday in the Guangming Science City district. The museum, covering approximately 135,000 square meters, features two hull-shaped structures symbolizing Eastern and Western cultures. Its opening day presents seven themed exhibitions, including 'Return of National Treasures' showcasing bronze animal heads from the Old Summer Palace, 'Realm of Masters' with European paintings from Budapest, and 'Neo Link — The Future of Art' featuring works by Anish Kapoor and Olafur Eliasson. Other exhibitions include a Xu Bing interactive space, the first Shenzhen Art and Technology Biennale, and selections from the CAFA Art Museum.

“A Golden Age for Whom?”, June 6 through September 20

The Figge Art Museum in Davenport, Iowa, will present "A Golden Age for Whom?" from June 6 through September 20, a contemporary art exhibition that runs alongside the museum's concurrent show "The Golden Age: Featuring Northern European Works from the National Gallery of Art." The exhibition brings together works by artists including Beth Lipman, Oliver Okolo, Yasumasa Morimura, and Fabiola Jean-Louis, who respond to the themes and aesthetics of Renaissance and Baroque art. The two exhibitions are housed in adjoining galleries, allowing visitors to move directly between historic works and contemporary responses.

Ali Banisadr talks alchemy at MFA St. Petersburg exhibition

The Museum of Fine Arts St. Petersburg has opened a new exhibition titled "Ali Banisadr: The Alchemist," featuring two decades of work by the artist Ali Banisadr. The show runs through July 12, 2026, and includes recurring figures drawn from ancient Egyptian tarot cards and other historical symbols, as well as references to artificial intelligence and a dinosaur-headed self-portrait. Senior curator Stanton Thomas, who typically works with Old Masters, collaborated directly with Banisadr on the exhibition.
