Gagosian's spring show skips and rhymes through De Kooning's career

Gagosian Gallery in New York has opened "Willem de Kooning: Endless Painting," a non-chronological exhibition curated by Cecilia Alemani that spans the artist's career from 1944 to 1986. The show features institutional loans from MoMA and the Guggenheim, includes two sculptures—including the colossal bronze "Standing Figure" displayed indoors for the first time in nearly 30 years—and runs through June 14. A panel with artists John Currin and Dana Schutz will explore de Kooning's influence on May 15.

met museum dedicated costume institute gallery 2371507

New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art has announced plans to convert its centrally located gift shop off the Great Hall into a new gallery space dedicated to its Costume Institute, with a $50 million fundraising goal and an expected opening in 2026. The 11,500-square-foot space will replace the current Anna Wintour Costume Center, offering a more prominent location for the institute's annual blockbuster exhibitions, such as this year's "Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty." Anna Wintour, Condé Nast global editorial director and Vogue editor, will lead fundraising for the project, which also includes reconfiguring ground-floor dining and retail spaces and opening a new public entrance at East 83rd Street and Fifth Avenue.

THE MET GETS A NEW GREAT HALL BY PETERSON RICH OFFICE

Peterson Rich Office (PRO) has designed a new Great Hall Gallery for the Metropolitan Museum of Art, occupying 12,000 square feet across five sequential rooms in a former exterior courtyard adjacent to the landmark Great Hall. The renovation exposes and celebrates historic exterior façades from the 1880s and 1890s, creating a layered architectural experience. The space is intended to host rotating exhibitions, particularly the Costume Institute's annual spring show, and is currently under construction.
