Juneau's First Friday in May 2026 features a diverse array of events, including a storytelling project called "Tambayan at Kwentuhan" that shares oral histories from Filipino elders, an exhibition titled "Dizzy Hooligan" by Kiyana Fonua recalling Kava gatherings in Anchorage, and a retrospective of Indigenous fashion designer Dorothy Grant at the Alaska State Museum. Pitt Meadows artist goes ‘Full Circle’ with new exhibit

An exhibition titled “Full Circle” opens May 2 at the Pitt Meadows Art Gallery, showcasing the work of local artist Liz Boulton. The show features her paintings in watercolour, acrylic, and mixed media, as well as hand-built art dolls, reflecting her decades-long artistic journey and her use of texture mediums, gels, and repurposed materials.

Full circle creativity: Courtney Saunders finds artistic community

Courtney Saunders, a graphic designer and digital artist, has returned to Tallahassee after accepting a position with Grova Creative in early 2025. Her digital painting "Watch Us" earned Third Place in COCA's 2026 Creative Tallahassee exhibition, currently on view at City Hall Gallery through June 8. Saunders, who attended the School of Arts and Sciences in Tallahassee during middle school, credits the city's creative community and her supportive teachers for nurturing her artistic voice. She holds a BFA in graphic design from Andrews University and works across multiple mediums including acrylic, watercolor, collage, and digital illustration.

Woodhaven Art Circle hosts inaugural gallery show ‘Love, Left Open’ in Kew Gardens

The Woodhaven Art Circle artist collective launched its inaugural gallery exhibition, titled 'Love, Left Open,' at the Neighborly Events space in Kew Gardens, Queens. The show features introspective works from over 16 local artisans, ranging from ink illustrations and digital photography to mixed-media pieces, all exploring themes of personal and communal love. The opening night was complemented by poetry readings and a celebration of International Mother Language Day, emphasizing the intersection of cultural heritage and creative expression.

Greytown exhibition circles back for third year

The Greytown Art Gallery has launched the third edition of its annual "Full Circle" exhibition, featuring nearly 100 anonymous works created on small, circular formats. The opening event, officiated by South Wairarapa mayor Fran Wilde, included an auction of the pieces, which are priced at a flat rate of $200 to ensure affordability. The exhibition showcases a mix of emerging and established artists from across the Wairarapa region, challenging them to work outside traditional rectangular constraints.
