McRae Art Studios kicks off 40th anniversary with open house this weekend

McRae Art Studios, Orlando's oldest and largest professional artist collective, is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a spring open house on April 25 at its 10,000-square-foot converted garage space in urban Orlando. Founded in 1986 by George and Marty Whipple, the studio has hosted over 100 award-winning artists across five locations. The event features studio visits, original artwork sales, live music, and a cash bar, along with a new exhibition of self-portraits titled "The Faces of McRae" created by the current 22 member artists. The collective is also reorganizing as a nonprofit to strengthen the local arts community.

Integrative Studio II Student-Led Exhibitions – Department Of Art And Design

The Department of Art & Design has announced the Integrative Studio II student-led exhibitions, scheduled to run from March 3rd through March 6th, 2026, at the Finley Gallery and Annex Galleries. The showcase is the result of a six-week intensive study where visual arts majors used the piñata as a conceptual starting point to explore themes of history, materiality, and transformation. The exhibition is split into two distinct sections: "From the Outside In," which focuses on personal memory and cultural background, and "Divergence of Reactions," which addresses complex emotional themes such as anxiety and the fragility of life.

Boston University School of Visual Arts is presenting the 2025 Undergraduate Thesis Exhibitions from April 29 through May 10 across multiple galleries on campus, including the 808 Gallery, 808 Corridor Gallery, and Commonwealth Gallery. The exhibitions feature works by 66 graduating seniors from BFA programs in Painting, Sculpture, and Graphic Design, as well as BA in Art students, with a separate BA Capstone Exhibition running from May 5 to 16 in Gallery 5. A public reception is scheduled for May 2, and all shows are free and open to the public.
