New exhibits start at Public Works Art Center

The Public Works Art Center in Summerville, South Carolina, opens five new exhibitions on May 21 with a reception from 5:30-8:30 p.m. The shows include "GODBODY: THE FEMME," a group exhibition celebrating Black women artists; Amy Stewart's "Intersections" exploring interconnectedness; Nick Cerrato's "Our Society Needs To…" featuring abstract works created with his feet; Sarah Mitchell's "Wildlife in Wool" with needle-felted animals; and the Summerville Artist Guild's annual "All Members Show." During the reception, guild members will create collaborative paintings for sale to benefit the Summerville Rocks Scholarship Fund.

New ‘Beyond the Gallery’ Art Exhibit at Lil Mill Lofts in Monroe features work of Rebecca Herold

The Monroe-Walton Center for the Arts (MWCA) has partnered with Lil Mill Lofts in Monroe to present a new 'Beyond the Gallery' art exhibit featuring the work of local artist Rebecca Herold. Herold’s paintings, inspired by skies and seas, capture movement, emotion, light, and the quiet power of nature. An opening reception will be held on May 16 from 5–7 p.m. at Lil Mill Lofts, located at 200 Barrett Street in Monroe.

Merritt Wins Best Of Show At Spring Juried Art Show

Wesley Dallas Merritt won Best of Show at the Lakeland Art Association's 22nd annual Spring Juried Art Show, held at the Lakeland Art Gallery in Warsaw, Indiana. The show featured 53 works by 19 artists from Fort Wayne, North Manchester, and surrounding counties, including paintings, photographs, metal sculptures, and ceramic works. Judge Andrew Tomasik, a Warsaw Community High School visual arts teacher, also awarded first place to Brenda Stichter, second place to Merritt, and third place to Sherri Johnson, along with six honorable mentions.
