pilar corrias new gallery london 2023

Pilar Corrias is expanding her London gallery with a new 5,000-square-foot flagship space at 49-51 Conduit Street in Mayfair, featuring 16-foot ceilings and street-level access. The gallery, now 15 years old, has grown from representing 4 to 35 artists, including top-selling names like Christina Quarles. Corrias decided to open the new space after a four-year search, citing its rare size and industrial character as a contrast to her existing Savile Row location, which she will retain. The first exhibition in the new gallery will showcase new paintings by Christina Quarles.

Halley, a central figure of the 1980s Neo-Geo movement, is recognized for his 'cell' and 'conduit' paintings that critique social and technological structures.

London gallery Pilar Corrias has announced the representation of French painter Alexis Ralaivao in partnership with New York-based Olney Gleason. The announcement coincides with Ralaivao’s debut UK solo exhibition, "Flirter avec l’abstrait," which is currently on view at the gallery’s Conduit Street location in Mayfair. Ralaivao is recognized for his intimate, diaristic oil paintings that blend 17th-century Dutch technical precision with contemporary emotional depth.

What Portland’s First New York Art Gallery Means for the City

Portland art gallery ILY2 (“I Love You Too”) has opened a permanent outpost in New York City, marking the first time a Portland gallery has established a permanent space in the city. The new gallery, located between Chinatown and Tribeca, inaugurated its space with the second installment of the group show SOFT PINK HARD LINE, which originally started at ILY2’s Portland gallery in the Pearl District. The expansion was conceived by philanthropist Allie Furlotti, who founded ILY2 during the pandemic as a series of pop-up residencies to support local artists.
