The Faizi Rahmeen Art Gallery in Karachi, Pakistan, remains unfinished over 35 years after its inception, despite being initiated during the tenure of former MQM Mayor Dr. Farooq Sattar. Construction of the ground-plus-three-storey structure was completed by 1992 at an estimated cost of Rs80 million, but work stalled after the launch of "Operation Clean-Up" against the MQM and the dissolution of the local government. A brief revival in 2007 only saw installation of glass panels and floor tiling; core civil works are only 70% complete, and key systems like electrical, mechanical, revolving stage, and sound system are still pending. The site, formerly the residence of renowned author Atiya Begum and artist Faizi Rahmeen, was donated to the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) in trust with the explicit intention of establishing an art gallery. KMC's Culture, Sports and Recreation office now operates from the property, but the gallery itself remains stalled due to lack of political priority for arts and culture.
Umbrella Studio Contemporary Arts in North Queensland will present three new exhibitions next month, led by Meriam artist Gail Mabo's 'Wer Wer (Boundaries)'. Developed during a residency with master printmaker Dian Darmansjah, the exhibition reinterprets boundary maps drawn by Mabo's father, land rights pioneer Eddie Koiki Mabo, through four unique drypoint etching and collagraph prints. Art x Love, a creative agency owned by Allyse and Mac Love, has opened a new gallery called Forever Changes in downtown Akron, Ohio. The gallery offers local artists of all skill levels the opportunity to display and sell their work through both free and paid display options, with a community open house scheduled for July 11. The space at 35 S. The Palmer Museum of Art at Penn State has opened a new exhibition titled "Washi Transformed: New Expressions in Japanese Paper," running from June 7 to July 27. The Condé Museum at the Château de Chantilly, north of Paris, has opened a special exhibition of the Très Riches Heures, the celebrated 15th-century illuminated manuscript. For the first time in decades, the public can view the 12 monthly calendar pages as independent works, detached from the manuscript after a painstaking conservation project. The exhibition, running until October, also features around 100 loaned medieval manuscripts, sculptures, and paintings to contextualize the manuscript's importance. The Très Riches Heures, commissioned by the Duc de Berry and begun by the Limbourg brothers around 1411, has been held at Chantilly since 1856 and is normally never lent out due to the conditions of the Duke d'Aumale's bequest.
Jewyo Rhii, a Seoul-born artist from the first generation to come of age during South Korea's dramatic political shifts in the 1980s, has been selected for this year's Korean Artists Today project. Her work, which began as personal explorations of misplacement and survival using ephemeral materials and found objects, evolved around ten years ago into collaborative projects like Love Your Depot (2019), a series of storage-unit-like installations that question the lifespan of artworks. Rhii's practice includes object-oriented performance pieces such as Ten Years Please (2007-17) and Lie on the Han River (2003-06), and she has shown at institutions including the Queens Museum, the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA) in Seoul, and the Venice Biennale.

Summit County's Public Art Advisory Board has issued a call for artists to design and fabricate seven artistic benches for the exterior of the Silver Summit Services Building in Park City, Utah. The project includes two 8-foot and five 5-foot benches that must reflect themes of unity, community, justice, service, and law and order, while being durable enough to withstand deep snowfall, high winds, and temperature extremes.
