William Way Opens 19th Annual Group Art Exhibition featuring local LGBTQ+ artists

The William Way LGBT Community Center in Philadelphia has opened its 19th Annual Group Art Exhibition, featuring three local LGBTQ+ artists: Daniel de Jesús, Kenzi Crash, and James Rose. The artists were selected from participants in the center's January Juried Art Exhibition, with local artist Gabriel Martinez serving as the designated judge. Art Exhibitions Manager Jake Foster curated the show, which presents each artist's individual work without a unifying theme. De Jesús blends mysticism, Catholic iconography, and queer identity; Crash presents a photography installation exploring queer intimacy; and Rose debuts a new series of self-portraits examining identity and emotion. The exhibition runs through August 28 and is also viewable online, with 65% of sales going to the artists.

Founded by local printmaker Mya Giuliani, the space will host a grand opening on August 2, 2025, with coffee from Ella's Café, a tintype photographer, and a tattoo flash event with Patchwork Collective. The venue will sell affordable art from over 40 local artists, with prices ranging from $5 to $300, and will feature a rotating Micro Gallery starting with Sarah Jane Sutterfield's exhibition 'Life Should Make More Sense Than This' on August 29.

On January 24th, Taiwanese artist Su Hui-Yu's film 'A Complete History' premiered at the Bogotá Museum of Modern Art (MAMBO). The work, filmed within the museum, intertwines the histories of Colombia and Taiwan through a narrative told and inhabited by queer and trans individuals. The exhibition, titled 'La Saga Total,' also featured other works by Su, including 'The Trio Hall' and 'The Space Warriors and the Digigrave.' The project is now set to travel to Taipei for its premiere at MOCA Taipei on April 12th.

Local artists wanted for CK Queer Portraits art exhibit

Thames Art Gallery in Chatham-Kent, Ontario, is organizing an exhibition titled "Queer Portraits" that celebrates the local 2SLGBTQIA+ community. The gallery is now accepting submissions from artists, with entries required to show a meaningful connection to Chatham-Kent, be created from the perspective of or in allyship with the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, and portray a specific person or their defining characteristics. A jury will review submissions, which are due by 4 p.m. on May 29, with up to two pieces per artist accepted across various media.

Philadelphia Magic Gardens exhibition examines queerness, migration and belonging

Open Doors Youth Service Celebrates 25 Years With Trans Youth Art Exhibition

Open Doors Youth Service in Brisbane is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a trans youth art exhibition titled "Shimmer," created in collaboration with artist Gerwyn Davies, Museum of Brisbane, MELT Festival, and Brisbane Powerhouse. Twelve trans and gender diverse young people worked with Davies to produce artworks now on display at the Museum of Brisbane until April. The organization is also hosting a fundraising gala dinner inside the exhibition space to support its ongoing services for LGBTQIA+ youth in Queensland.

Centre LGBT+, Local Congregations Partnering for Art Exhibition

Centre LGBT+ and several faith communities in Centre County, Pennsylvania, are partnering for a new art exhibition called “Rainbow Creation,” inviting local artists to submit original works exploring and celebrating LGBT+ identity. Submissions are open until March 15, with no fee required, and works by children, youth, and adults in any medium are welcome. Selected pieces will be displayed from April 12 to June 30 at Centre LGBT+’s community center and multiple faith spaces across State College and the Centre Region. Participating congregations include Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Centre County, St. Luke Lutheran Church, Congregation Brit Shalom, Grace Lutheran Church, St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and Wesley Foundation, University Baptist and Brethren Church, State College Friends Meeting, and State College Presbyterian Church.

A Creative Culmination

Three graduating seniors at Syracuse University—Lily Ryan, Rumini “Rumi” Nguyen, and Zoe Requena Bustillo—are preparing capstone projects for a final exhibition at the Warehouse Gallery, culminating their studio arts B.F.A. program. Ryan’s work explores queer identity, nostalgia, and the uncanny through mixed-media tinkering; Nguyen crochets objects from memory to process homesickness; and Requena Bustillo creates a puppet theater addressing Venezuelan history, displacement, and immigration.
