Western Spirit Museum highlights student artists during Youth Art Month exhibit

Western Spirit Museum, Scottsdale’s Museum of the West, partnered with the Arizona Art Education Association to present a Youth Art Month exhibition from March 15 to March 28, 2025. The show featured 109 original works by students in kindergarten through 12th grade from 22 schools across Arizona, spanning multiple mediums and styles. The exhibit concluded with a student artist reception on March 28, drawing families, educators, and community members. Teachers submitted student artwork, which was reviewed and selected by the Arizona Art Education Association Youth Art Month board.

Juvenile Triceratops to hit Phillips’ auction blocks this November

Phillips auction house will debut a new category called "Out of This World" within its Modern & Contemporary Art Evening Sale on November 18 in New York, headlined by "Cera," a 66-million-year-old juvenile Triceratops skeleton. The specimen, excavated in 2016 from South Dakota's Hell Creek Formation, is the first full juvenile Triceratops ever discovered and the first Triceratops of any kind to appear at a U.S. auction in over a decade, with an estimate of up to $3.5 million. The sale also includes other natural-history rarities such as a large gold nugget and a fossilized marine reptile.

SADA faculty members showcase art at museum

Liberty University's semi-annual Faculty Art Exhibition opened on September 4 and runs through October 13, 2025, at the Liberty University Art Museum in Green Hall. The show features a diverse range of work by faculty members of the Department of Studio & Digital Arts (SADA), including paintings, pottery, sculptures, jewelry, illustrative projects, video game renderings, and concept art created with design software. The gallery was donated by Barbara Engstrom in February 2022 to display faith-based art, and her personal collection is also on view. Chair Todd Smith oversees the museum and emphasized that the exhibition models professional practice for students.

Discovery of ancient Coptic city ‘enhances our understanding of early Christianity in Egypt’

Egypt's Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities announced on 24 July the discovery of an ancient Coptic city at the Ain Al-Kharab archaeological site in the Kharga Oasis, Western Desert. Dating from the third to seventh centuries, the site includes mudbrick residences, tombs, two churches (one basilica-style), and a mural of Jesus Christ healing the sick. The excavation was led by the Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA).
