Exhibits celebrate 30 years of Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History

The Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History (MAH) is celebrating its 30th anniversary with two concurrent exhibitions: “This is Thirty: Celebrating the MAH and Our Creative Community,” which mixes permanent collection works with new acquisitions, and “The Things We Did and Didn’t Do,” an archival installation by local artist Joshua Moreno. The museum originated from a merger of the Santa Cruz Historical Society and the Art Museum of Santa Cruz County, delayed by the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake, and opened in 1996. The exhibits feature earthquake-related artworks, pieces by founding director Charles Hilger, and contributions from the family of Executive Director Ginger Shulick Porcella, including wearable art by her late mother-in-law Yvonne Porcella.

Maine College of Art & Design Presents the 2026 MFA Thesis Exhibition

Maine College of Art & Design (MECA&D), in collaboration with the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) at MECA&D, presents the 2026 MFA Thesis Exhibition, showcasing the culminating work of nine graduate candidates in the Master of Fine Arts in Studio Art program. He also mentions an upcoming book of drawings and texts by Renzo Daveti (alias Benzo), a formative figure from the Italian punk scene.

Fisherton Mill to showcase 14 artists and makers on Salisbury Art Trail

Fisherton Mill in Salisbury will host 14 artists and makers as part of the Salisbury Art Trail, running from May 23 to June 7. The mill's first-floor display space will feature resident studio artists, while the main gallery presents 'Brush, Kiln & Camera', a group exhibition from the Nova Art Guild showcasing ceramics, paintings, glasswork, and photography by Fiona Charter, Tamsyn Gregory, Lindsay Keir, Scarlet Leatham, Geraldine McLoughlin, and David Walker. Collagraph prints exhibition begins at Kaalnee Art Studio

A ten-day collagraph printmaking exhibition opened on Wednesday at Kaalnee Art Studio in Rayer Bazar, Dhaka. The exhibition features 19 prints by 14 artists, created during a four-day workshop led by UK-based Bangladeshi artist Zaman Md Fakruzzaman and coordinated by Tarek Amin, jointly organized by Kaalnee Art Studio and the East London Academy of Art. Studio A, a leading Australian supported studio for artists with intellectual disability, is celebrating its tenth anniversary with a retrospective exhibition titled "SAD, MAD, THINKING birthday." Cincinnati Art Museum Announces Major Charley Harper Exhibition

The Cincinnati Art Museum has announced its first full-scale scholarly exhibition of works by Cincinnati-based artist Charley Harper, titled "The Art of Charley Harper: Creatures Wild and Tame." Un nuovo centro culturale e residenza d’artista nasce in un’ex chiesa di Venezia

A 13th-century Gothic church in Venice's Cannaregio district, the former Chiesa dell'Abbazia della Misericordia, will reopen on May 5, 2026, as Etnia House of Arts. Seniors showcase their art in a final exhibition

Graduating students at Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO) showcased their artwork in a final exhibition held on May 1, 2026, at Crisp Museum. Wakefield artist celebrates opening up his first international exhibition in New York

Wakefield-born artist Kyle Wilkinson has opened his first international exhibition in New York through his immersive art and design studio, Haus of Thrills (HoT). Founded in Sheffield in 2024, the studio has already secured commissions from major brands including Santander and Silverstone, and designed the 60th anniversary Mustang for Ford. The new exhibition, titled 'Metropolis in Motion', is on view at the Myria gallery in Tribeca, New York.

Lawrence artists open their studios for Art Spaces Tours; looks behind the scenes continue Sunday

The Lawrence Art Guild held the fourth annual Art Spaces Studio Tours on Saturday, with studios open again Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. Featured artist Nick Schmiedeler, a forklift operator who creates assemblage sculptures from found metal and wood, opened his studio at 710 Missouri St. Muralist Dave Loewenstein and his 8-year-old son Andrés hosted guests at their alleyway studio, where Andrés performed live drawing demonstrations. The tour also included Art Emergency, a collective studio space at 721 E. Ninth St. housing artists working in painting, photography, textiles, and mixed media.

Jackson Art Studio & Gallery 3rd Annual Open Studio Art Sale

Jackson Art Studio & Gallery in Jackson, New Hampshire, is hosting its 3rd annual Open Studio Art Sale from Friday, May 1, through Sunday, May 3. Artists present three-minute theses at Tarble Museum of Art

Wexford artist selected to feature artwork at prestigious exhibition – ‘I wasn’t expecting it to get through’

Wexford artist Kate Kos has been selected to exhibit her painting 'Gunnera & Hemlock' at the 196th Royal Hibernian Academy (RHA) exhibition in Dublin, which runs from May 25 to August 9, 2025. HCC Student Artist Brings Good vs. Evil to Life in Striking Painting

Houston Community College student Ruben Rodriguez, who also goes by Dario, created a large painting exploring the theme of good versus evil for the Juried Student Art Exhibition at HCC Spring Branch. The exhibition, hosted by HCC's Media, Visual, and Performing Arts department on April 30, featured works from level 1 and level 2 studio art students across the Spring Branch, Katy, and Alief campuses. Rodriguez's painting incorporates pop culture figures such as Kobe Bryant and Captain America on one side and villainous characters like Marvel's Thanos on the other, illustrating the paths of motivation and discipline versus addiction and greed, inspired by his Christian faith.

UCF Alum and Fulbright scholar Mär Martinez exhibition in Maitland, FL

Contemporary painter Mär Martinez, a Fulbright scholar and UCF alum, presents her first solo museum exhibition, “A loom, a fence, a wire, a thread,” at the Art & History Museums of Maitland (A&H) in Maitland, Florida. The show features works developed during her 2024–25 Fulbright research in Istanbul and builds on ideas from her 2021–2023 Studio Artist Residency at A&H. Inspired by traditional Turkish and Middle Eastern textile practices, Martinez explores themes of urban life, surveillance, and cultural memory, using imagery from nighttime walks through Istanbul—fences, checkpoints, and barbed wire—combined with historic textile patterns. Her Cuban and Arab heritage and family’s experience of displacement inform her work, with weaving serving as a metaphor for endurance and resistance. The opening night is free to the public, with live music, food, and a cash bar.

28 Texas Galleries to Participate in Affordable Art Fair Austin, May 14-17

Lifework: An Exhibition by KCAT Studio Artists

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council presents "Lifework," an exhibition of artworks by seven artists from the Kilkenny Collective for Arts Talent (KCAT) Studio. Colares studio opens its doors for one-day art show

Three artists—Maria José Meneses, Clara Rêgo, and Mary St. George—are opening their studio at Casa do Celeiro in Colares, Sintra, for a one-day "Open Studio" event on Saturday, May 30, from 12pm to 6pm. The event offers the public a rare behind-the-scenes look at a working art studio, featuring contemporary paintings, mixed media, sculptural ceramics, and artists' books in a 17th-century building that was once a barn and stable.
