Pennswood Art Gallery exhibit features plants and animals of the Poconos

Pennswood Art Gallery in Newtown announces the May 10 opening of its new exhibit, “Contemplative Observation,” featuring the work of artist Albina P. Herron. Herron paints plants and animals native to the Pocono Mountains, using gouache on cotton paper to emphasize texture and presence. The exhibit includes works such as “Bleeding Heart” (Dicentra eximia) and runs until July 1, with an artist talk and reception on opening day.

Faces of America Art Exhibit

Artist and arts administrator Kathleen Kirk Stoves is debuting an art exhibit at Mobile Arts Council in downtown Mobile, Alabama, in partnership with Lynn Oldshue, founder and writer of the storytelling project Our Southern Souls. The exhibit runs through May and coincides with the ArtWalk event on May 8th. Stoves created paintings inspired by Oldshue's interviews with over 2,000 people from the Mobile area, originally sparked by stories about bus riders.

Stove Kirk in Sandwick opens for first art exhibition

A former church, Stove Kirk in Sandwick, Shetland, has been converted into a pop-up art gallery and opens today with its first exhibition featuring five local artists. Curated by owner Gillian Bridle, the show includes painters Nina Price and Katie Leask, Orkney-based artist Maiwenn Beadle, digital folk artist Jordan Clark, and sculptor Fionn Arnett, with works loosely themed around storytelling, the sea, and Shetland landscapes.

Georgian Art Breaks Through: Bonhams to Host Historic First-Ever Auction Dedicated to Georgian Contemporary Artists

Bonhams is launching the first-ever major auction dedicated exclusively to Georgian contemporary art, titled "Georgian Art Now." The online sale runs from May 19 to 29 and features works by leading Georgian artists including Rusudan Petviashvili, Lia Bagrationi, Niniko Morbedadze, and Merab Gagiladze. The auction was curated by Daria Khristova, Head of Sales at Bonhams, who traveled to Tbilisi to select the lineup of paintings, sculptures, photography, and works on paper.
