Istituto Svizzero in Rome presents "Atlas Studios," the first solo exhibition in Italy by Swiss-based artist Latefa Wiersch. The show is specifically designed for the spaces of Villa Maraini and evokes the famous Atlas Studios film sets located on the edge of the Moroccan desert, which have been used by international film productions.
The Bottle Alley Art Market (BAAM) returns for its third year on August 23, transforming the 480-meter seafront walkway between Hastings and St Leonards into the UK's longest beachside art market. Featuring 70 artists from local talents to national figures, the free event includes live portrait sessions by Xinchu Zhang, performances by Jude Montague and Caroline Gregory, DJ sets from Simon and the Pope, and a fabric installation by Mew Welch, David Harris, and Zeroh. Organised by Zeroh, Daniel Hardiker, and Neil Hetherington, the market runs from 10am to 6pm on the bank holiday weekend.
Art x Love, a creative agency owned by Allyse and Mac Love, has opened a new gallery called Forever Changes in downtown Akron, Ohio. The gallery offers local artists of all skill levels the opportunity to display and sell their work through both free and paid display options, with a community open house scheduled for July 11. The space at 35 S. Main St. features over 200 artworks by 22 local artists, including both newcomers like Boo Koch and Day Watajii, and established artists such as Karen Koch, Julienne Hogarth, and David Lile. The gallery operates on a non-curatorial model, accepting nearly all submissions suitable for public display, and aims to provide a zero-risk platform for artists who have never shown their work before.
A new gallery called Grateful Gallery is opening at 50 Hill Street in Glasgow's Garnethill neighborhood, founded by artists Ciaran Globel and Panda McGlone. The public opening is set for Friday, June 6, 2025. The duo, who have been friends since 2006, aim to create a welcoming space dedicated to Glasgow's street art and graffiti scene. The gallery will sell affordable prints, merchandise, and artwork from local street artists, with a rotating monthly floor show; the inaugural exhibition, titled "Friends," runs from June 6 to July 3. The space has been renovated with community help, and a crowdfunder raised nearly £12,000 from over 300 supporters.
NFT Paris and its sister event RWA Paris have been canceled just one month before they were scheduled to take place at the Grande Halle de la Villette in Paris. Founder Alexandre Tsydenkov announced the cancellation on LinkedIn, citing the collapse of the crypto and NFT markets as making the events financially impossible despite drastic cost cuts. Both conferences had run for four years, showcasing digital art, NFT galleries, and AI-generated works, but had recently shifted toward broader tech and blockchain topics. All tickets will be refunded.
City Hall in New York City will mark the 24th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks with an art exhibition organized by former NYPD officer Paul McCormack, who lost most of his sight due to chemicals at the cleanup site, and his wife Nicola McClean, a photographer. Their nonprofit, Ground Zero 360, is showcasing more than 30 works from a collection of over 120 pieces created by more than 60 international artists for the 10-year anniversary in 2011. The exhibition includes photographs, drawings, paintings, and mixed media, and features a portrait of Moira Smith, the only female NYPD officer killed on 9/11. The display will be open for two months starting Monday.
Zero Degrees Art Gallery in Marquette, Michigan, is hosting a retirement celebration and reception for long-time resident artist Bill Hamilton. Hamilton, who has been a fixture at the gallery since 2021 and previously showcased work at the Michigamme Moonshine Gallery, will have his art featured in a final exhibition throughout April and May.
Artist Tyler Thrasher is opening Materia, a new studio and shop in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on October 25. The launch event at 2421 East Admiral Blvd will feature a blackout environment with UV floodlights and over 4,000 glowing flowers, along with local vendors, food, and a chance for attendees to create their own glowing flower. The space includes Thrasher's lab for crystallizing insects and will host workshops and interactive experiences. Thrasher, who draws inspiration from his landscaping upbringing, uses phosphorescent mineral powders to create preserved, glowing plants sourced sustainably from florists and invasive species removal.
Iranian-born artist Omid Asadi has been appointed as the new artist-in-residence at the University of Salford’s Energy House 2.0 research facility. Running from Spring 2026 through the end of the year, the residency will see Asadi collaborate with researchers at the world-leading climate laboratory, which features two massive chambers capable of simulating extreme global weather conditions. The artist plans to create new installations and sculptures in response to the facility's pioneering retrofit research, specifically focusing on a recreated 1930s-era house.
Glasgow City Council has approved plans for 'Wildhorse,' a new multi-use venue at 1095 Argyle Street in the Finnieston neighborhood. Spearheaded by Graham Suttle of the hospitality group No Gods No Masters, the space will integrate a cafe, bar, and restaurant with a dedicated on-site art gallery and private dining areas. The project emphasizes sustainability through zero-waste food policies and draught-only wine service to reduce glass packaging.
