LACMA’s David Geffen Galleries Will Open on April 19, 2026

The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) announced that its David Geffen Galleries, designed by architect Peter Zumthor, will open on April 19, 2026, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The opening will be followed by two weeks of priority member access and a free day for NexGenLA youth members on May 3. The 900-foot-long building spans Wilshire Boulevard and will house LACMA's permanent collection, featuring approximately 2,500 to 3,000 objects across 110,000 square feet of gallery space. The inaugural installation is organized around the Pacific, Indian, and Atlantic Oceans and the Mediterranean Sea, emphasizing cultural exchange and migration, and includes works by Georges de La Tour, Henri Matisse, Francis Bacon, Vincent van Gogh, and new commissions by artists such as Todd Gray and Lauren Halsey.

Aladdin artist to feature in Governor's Capitol Art Exhibition

The 2026 Governor's Capitol Art Exhibition will open at the Wyoming Capitol on February 9, featuring local artist Alexandra Hansen of Aladdin among 53 artists selected from 383 entries by 152 artists. The biennial exhibition, part of Wyoming's tribute to America's 250th anniversary, celebrates the state's landscapes, communities, and people. Hansen, a contemporary Western artist known for stylized vintage patina oil paintings, grew up on a South Dakota ranch and studied at Oklahoma State University. Kate Hlavin, Curator of the Coors Western Art Exhibit and Sale, served as guest juror. A public reception and awards ceremony will be held on February 26, with a People's Choice Award vote on the Wyoming State Museum Facebook page.

The awards ceremony was held at the James Howe Gallery at Kean University, recognizing exceptional high school visual artists from across the state.

Aiza Ahmed: ‘I’m finding ways to explore humanity’

Interdisciplinary artist Aiza Ahmed is presenting a solo exhibition of new paintings and woodcut sculptures with New York gallery Sargent's Daughters at the inaugural Art Basel Qatar. The 28-year-old, who splits her time between residencies in Doha and New York, uses the theatrical Wagah-Attari border ceremony between India and Pakistan as a central subject to explore identity, nationalism, and power dynamics.
