Highlanes Gallery opens 2026 with first solo exhibition by emerging artist James Moonan

Highlanes Gallery in Drogheda, Ireland, has opened its first exhibition of 2026 with 'Once Upon a Page', the debut solo show by emerging artist James Moonan. The exhibition features award-winning recent works alongside pieces Moonan created throughout his childhood, tracing his artistic journey. Moonan, a young creative with autism, has received national recognition in the Credit Union Art Competition. The opening was attended by the Mayor of Drogheda Michelle Hall, gallery director Aoife Ruane, representatives from Drogheda Credit Union, and members of the local community.

Senior artwork shines in "Beneath the Surface" exhibit at Spokane Art School

Gonzaga University's Art Department is presenting "Beneath the Surface," a senior art exhibit running through May 8 in partnership with the Spokane Art School. The show features capstone projects from graduating students, including oil paintings, a punk-style zine and CD project, and digital works exploring themes like motherhood and anxiety. New bar and restaurant with art gallery to open in Glasgow's Finnieston

Glasgow City Council has approved plans for 'Wildhorse,' a new multi-use venue at 1095 Argyle Street in the Finnieston neighborhood. Spearheaded by Graham Suttle of the hospitality group No Gods No Masters, the space will integrate a cafe, bar, and restaurant with a dedicated on-site art gallery and private dining areas. The project emphasizes sustainability through zero-waste food policies and draught-only wine service to reduce glass packaging.

Killeen ISD student artwork celebrated, joins statewide exhibition in Austin

Finn Brantley, a student at Chaparral High School in Killeen ISD, has had his artwork titled "Chrono" selected for the Texas Art Education Association’s Spring Exhibition. The piece will be displayed at the Bullock Texas State History Museum in Austin alongside works from other high-achieving students across the state ranging from Pre-K to 12th grade.

Local artists and residents showcase artwork at pop-up exhibition

Rashwood Care Home in Droitwich recently transformed its communal spaces into a pop-up art gallery, featuring a diverse collection of works by local artists and residents. The exhibition included needle-felted topiary, Egyptian-themed art, and handcrafted floral pieces created by the nursing staff. The event was inspired by social engagement co-ordinator Ann Shilton, who used the platform to honor her late mother’s previously unseen artwork.

Museums Student Engagement Committee

Washington and Lee University (W&L) established the Museums Student Engagement Committee (MSEC) in December 2023 to strengthen ties between students and the W&L Art Museum and Galleries (AMG). The committee, composed of students from various class years, advises museum staff on programming, exhibitions, and events to make the museum more relevant and accessible. Officers include Avery Dennard, Hailey Neaman, Nora Kuhn, and Grace McCurdy, with advisors Isra El-beshir and Jessica Wager.
