Artist Debra Wick is presenting a new series of hyper-realistic watercolor paintings focused on the intricate physics of raindrops at the Redlands Art Association. The exhibition, running from April 18 to May 15, showcases Wick’s unique self-taught technique involving masking fluid and layered washes to capture atmospheric reflections, alongside her earlier works and functional art pieces like painted umbrellas and pillows.
Artist George McCalman is preparing to launch his interactive exhibition “A March Through Time” on November 22 at Pier 29 in San Francisco. The exhibition is housed within a curtained-off section of the 122,000-square-foot pier, which McCalman describes as a timeworn space that reflects his belief that the past and present are intertwined. He has worked for nine years from a studio in an Outer Sunset home, a stripped-down, weathered building owned by architect Douglas Jacuzzi and ceramicist Georgia Hodges, which embodies a philosophy of material purity and reverence for process. The studio itself is filled with projects in various stages, including the 155 portraits of Black pioneers that make up his book “Illustrated Black History.”
The winners of the Leicester Open exhibition have been announced, with Simon Farrow winning the prestigious Attenborough Award for his drawing "Clock Tower: Heaven or Hell," which depicts Leicester's Clock Tower with a street preacher and passers-by. Farrow, an amateur artist from Leicester, was selected from over 1,000 entries across paintings, sculptures, prints, and photographs. Other winners include Peter J Lester, Lisa Davies, Alexis Hutson, and several young artists in categories for ages 5-18. All winning works are on display at Leicester Museum & Art Gallery until January 30, 2026, with adult artworks available for purchase starting at £50.
Artist Jevon Brown, a Miamian of Bahamian, Jamaican, and Black Southern descent, discusses his multidisciplinary practice in an interview conducted in his Miami Beach apartment and studio. Brown works across textiles, silkscreen printing, fashion, and photography to explore cultural identity, belonging, queerness, and history. He describes how memories of Miami sunsets, family members like his uncle (a sneakerhead and hat collector), and ancestral references inform his creative process. Key works discussed include the "HAIREtage" series (2025), which uses materials like burlap and raffia to connect contemporary streetwear culture with African and Caribbean spirituality, and his inclusion in the exhibition "Material, Material World" at David Castillo Gallery.

The City of Tampa has added the monumental sculpture “Open House” by Area C Projects to its Public Art Collection, installed at the City Center at Hanna Avenue. Created by Rhode Island-based husband-and-wife team Erik Carlson and Ericka Carpenter, the piece features house silhouettes in vibrant sunset-inspired panels and illuminated street-name inscriptions.
Hyde Park youth artists Via McEwen and Asha A. Edwards showcased their paintings at the annual Marwen Art Fair, held on October 17, 2025, at Marwen, a downtown Chicago nonprofit offering free art classes to low-income students. The exhibition featured over 400 works from more than 150 young artists. McEwen, a 16-year-old Jones College Prep student, displayed intimate scenes including a portrait with her girlfriend and a figure painting from a Marwen class. Edwards, 23, presented sunset depictions inspired by Promontory Point, reflecting her experiences in Hyde Park and Bronzeville.
A surprise art exhibition in Gourock, Scotland, brought together 18 artists from Inverclyde in a pop-up shop on Kempock Street. Organized by local painter Catriona Reid on just a week's notice, the show featured paintings, sculptures, photography, and illustrations, including works like Linda Ross's oil painting 'Rain Storm' and Andrew King's sunset photography. The event drew many visitors and received an overwhelmingly positive response.
Western Wyoming Community College (Western) will host its annual Student Art Exhibition in the Art Gallery from May 8 through August 28, with a public reception and awards ceremony on May 14. The exhibition features works in painting, printmaking, ceramics, photography, drawing, sculpture, and mixed media by Western students, many of whom are exhibiting and selling their art professionally for the first time. Proceeds from sales will be split between the artists and the college's Art Gallery. The show is curated by Assistant Professor of Art Ben Nathan with student gallery interns.
