Art Exhibition coming to Torbay Hospital featuring nationally acclaimed artist

A new exhibition featuring the work of British marquetry artist Lucy Turner is opening at Torbay Hospital in England. Part of the 2026 HeArTs exhibition series, the show runs from January 18 to April 18 in the HeArTs Gallery on level 4. Turner, who has spent over 20 years perfecting her craft, creates vibrant, playful furniture and interior pieces using colored Formica laminate. She studied 3D design at the University of Plymouth and draws inspiration from her smallholding in Somerset. The exhibition includes specially created circular designs installed along the gallery corridor. Artist in residence Helen Snell praised the work as joyful and uplifting, noting its pop art and mid-century influences.

Art exhibit marks full circle moment for LGBTQ+ activist

Arleen Olshan, a Mt. Airy–based artist and activist, opens her latest exhibition “Arleen Olshan: The Tangle I’ve Gotten Into” on Jan. 16 at iMPeRFeCT Gallery in Germantown, running through Feb. 21. The show combines two series: “Dead Dykes & Some Gay Men,” a memorial portrait series honoring LGBTQ+ activists and loved she has lost—including a long-delayed painting of her friend Gil Forman and his partner Zach—and “Women Loving Women,” large-scale figurative works from the 1970s and 1980s celebrating lesbian feminist intimacy and liberation. The exhibition also includes an archival element of memorial cards and newspaper clippings Olshan saved over decades.

‘The Heart of the Prairie’ art exhibit now open at Beck Gallery

M State's Charles Beck Gallery in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, has opened a new exhibition titled 'The Heart of the Prairie: Four Muses, Four Stories,' featuring works by four rural Minnesota artists: Della Conroy, Deb Connolly, Kerry Kolke Bonk, and Phyllis Joos. The show, which runs from November 6, 2025, through January 9, 2026, includes landscapes, florals, textured prints, and still-life pieces that celebrate the beauty and spirit of the prairie. 33 artists showcase art from the heart

The 5th Inspired Fine Art Exhibition, themed “Kita 2.0”, is being held from September 5-21 at Capital Fine Art Gallery in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. Curated by Inspired Fine Art Studio and Capital Fine Art Gallery, the show features 140 works by 33 artists from Malaysia, South Africa, China, and Hong Kong, including watercolour, oil, acrylic, sculpture, and mixed media pieces. Most works are for sale, and weekend art workshops for adults and children are scheduled for September 13-14 and 20-21. London-based illustrator Tess Smith-Roberts is making her solo debut in Singapore with a pop-up exhibition titled "Hello Singapore!" at the newly opened Heartware Store & Gallery in Joo Chiat, running from 25th April to 25th May 2025. The free-entry exhibition features a whimsical collection of colorful artworks, sculptures, silkscreen prints, and merchandise, all centered on playful motifs of animals, fruits, and food. Smith-Roberts, known for her bold and humorous style, has previously exhibited in Tokyo, Kyoto, and Seoul, and during the opening weekend she drew live portraits of visitors.

Henryk Ptasiewicz, His Life, His Art

Henryk Ptasiewicz, a British-born artist who became a fixture of the St. Louis art scene, died on October 22, 2025. He moved to St. Louis in 1999, built a practice through commissions and teaching, and in 2014 was invited to paint fiberglass cake sculptures for the city's 250th birthday, featuring figures like Dred Scott and Vincent Price. He was also a founding member of the Missouri Plein Air Painters and a frequent winner on the regional plein air competition circuit.

The Fondo per l’Ambiente Italiano (FAI) has launched the 13th edition of its "Luoghi del Cuore" (Places of the Heart) initiative, a biennial census that invites Italians to vote for cultural heritage sites most in need of restoration. Since 2003, the campaign has collected over 13.5 million votes, with the 2024 edition alone receiving more than 2.3 million votes for over 41,000 sites across 6,508 municipalities. The initiative has funded 180 recovery projects, 40% of which involve churches, followed by environmental, architectural, and archaeological assets. Notable successes include the Church of San Pietro dei Samari in Gallipoli, the Oratorio del Sasso in Orasso, and the Complesso di Sant’Angelo Magno in Ascoli Piceno.

SIC Hise Museum announces call for entries for veteran art exhibition

The Ella Elizabeth Hise Museum of Regional Art at Southeastern Illinois College has announced a call for entries for its upcoming “Living the Dream: Veteran Art Exhibition.” The exhibit, running from July 3 through September 11, will highlight original works by veteran artists with connections to the Heartland region. St. Bede’s Episcopal Church in Atlanta is launching a new gallery called “Art From the Heart,” opening August 2. The gallery evolved from a two-day market into a permanent space where local artists can exhibit and sell their work. The inaugural show features artists from the Tucker Arts Alliance and previous market participants. An opening reception with music and refreshments will be held from 6-8:30 p.m., and the gallery will be open to the public on select days through October 2.
