Iron Horse Arts District announces new gallery, summer events, and Executive Director search

The Iron Horse Arts District in Holdrege, Nebraska, is launching a new gallery space called the Iron Horse Art Gallery inside the First State Bank of Holdrege, with a ribbon cutting and reception on June 11 featuring artist Christy Kosmicki. The district is also hosting the 2026 Artisan Expo on May 30, installing community-painted crosswalk murals in June, launching a new Iron Horse Pop-Up Concert Series on August 29, and conducting a search for its next Executive Director.

Studio B Boyertown Welcomes New Gallery Director, Announces New Exhibit

Studio B Boyertown has appointed Bob Hakun as its new gallery director. Hakun, an assemblage artist who creates works from found objects, previously worked as a computer graphic designer and prepress manager after his career designing Halloween masks and costumes moved overseas. He is a 1976 graduate of Kutztown University with a BFA in painting. The gallery is also presenting the exhibition “Form & Fiber: 3-Dimensional Expression in Art,” featuring 3-D and fiber works by Hakun and fifteen other artists, running through June 21.

The European Union has added Mikhail Piotrovsky, the 81-year-old director of the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, to its sanctions list as part of the 20th package of measures against Russia. His assets in the EU are frozen and he is banned from entering European territory.

The case began in October 2025 when an anonymous testimony on the Instagram account #MeTooArtContemporain accused a former art professor of sexual assault; the post noted the accused had since become a Frac director. After graffiti appeared on the Frac Bretagne building, the institution hired the external consultancy Égaé to conduct an internal inquiry. Two reports submitted in February and April 2026 documented multiple serious allegations against Bernard, including harassment and assault. The board voted unanimously to revoke his position on May 4, 2026, and the public prosecutor's office in Rennes has opened a criminal investigation for moral harassment, sexual harassment, sexual assault, and aggravated rape. Bernard denies the allegations and has filed an appeal with the administrative court.

Mount Wachusett Community College student art exhibit opens in Gardner

Mount Wachusett Community College (MWCC) has opened its 55th Annual Student Art Exhibition at the East Wing Gallery inside the Raymond LaFontaine Fine Arts Center on its Gardner campus. Running from May 11 through May 26, the show features student work in painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, and design, selected collaboratively by faculty and students. Art department chair, professor, and gallery director Joyce Miller is the contact for the event.

Eiteljorg Museum showcases Latin American printmakers’ artistic traditions

The Eiteljorg Museum in Indianapolis will open a new exhibition, “Consejo Grafico Nacional: Latino Printmakers in the United States,” on May 30. The show features two printmaking portfolios created by Latin American artists from Chicago, California, New York, Texas, and Puerto Rico: “La Huella Magistral,” which pays homage to master printmakers, and “Los Americanos: Same Equals Different,” which explores cultural exchanges across the U.S.-Mexico border. Hoelscher to exhibit art at Kalmanson Gallery

Jason Hoelscher, Gallery Director and Professor of Art at Georgia Southern University, will exhibit his work at The Kalmanson Gallery of Emanuel Arts Council in Swainsboro, Georgia, from May to June. An opening reception is scheduled for May 21, 5–7 p.m., free and open to the public. Hoelscher is a painter, writer, and professor with a PhD in aesthetic philosophy, an MFA from Pratt Institute, and extensive exhibition history across the U.S. and internationally, including airports and museums. He has also written for ARTnews and The Wall Street Journal, and authored the book "Art as Information Ecology" (Duke University Press, 2021).
