Cumbria’s largest museum gains six new trustees

Cumbria's largest museum, Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery Trust in Carlisle, has appointed six new trustees to its board, expanding the total to 15 members. The new trustees include Lord Richard Inglewood, a former government minister; Lisa Middleton, head of marketing at National Museums Liverpool; Joanne Orr, former director of Tullie and ex-chief executive of Museums Galleries Scotland; Malcolm Rogers, a banking and finance specialist; Helen Smout, chief executive of Culture Perth and Kinross; and John Stevenson, a former MP for Carlisle. The appointments were announced by Tullie chair Andrew Smith and director Andrew Mackay.

Mount Wachusett Community College student art exhibit opens in Gardner

Mount Wachusett Community College (MWCC) has opened its 55th Annual Student Art Exhibition at the East Wing Gallery inside the Raymond LaFontaine Fine Arts Center on its Gardner campus. Running from May 11 through May 26, the show features student work in painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, and design, selected collaboratively by faculty and students. Art department chair, professor, and gallery director Joyce Miller is the contact for the event.

From April 30 to May 4, 2026, the "Long March Eve·Fuzhou Beacon" art sketching and creation event was held in Fuzhou to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the Red Army's Long March. Organized by the Jiangxi Artists Association and the Fuzhou Municipal Propaganda Department under the guidance of the China Artists Association, 15 artists including China Artists Association Chairman Fan Di'an and Secretary-General Wang Ping visited revolutionary heritage sites such as the Red Ninth Army Luojiapu Command Post, the Dengxian Bridge Victory Site in Le'an County, and the Long March National Cultural Park (Guangchang Section). They also explored the intangible cultural heritage Nuo Dance in Shiyou Village, Nanfeng County, to absorb local cultural roots for their creations.

Art Exhibition to conclude this evening

A two-day art exhibition featuring 12 artists from across Karnataka is concluding this evening at Suchitra Art Gallery in Kalamandira premises. The exhibition was inaugurated by Karnataka Lalithkala Academy former Chairman Dr. M.S. Murthy, with senior artist S.M. Jambukeshwara, Dr. Vithala Reddy, Chulaki Parameshwara, and Dr. Kundagola also present at the opening.

Art Beat: Color Play exhibit is ‘must see’

Color Play, a new exhibition featuring hand-blown glass by Tyler Boles and mixed-media works by Sue Cranston, opened at Art’s House in River Falls on April 30 and runs through June 12. A Meet the Artist event is scheduled for May 6. Boles presents vibrant bowls, vases, and wine goblets, while Cranston’s work explores girlhood and memory through digital prints, vintage school chairs, and layered text, with prices ranging from $10 for digital prints to $750 for original pieces.
