First Mvskoke-owned and operated art gallery opens in Jenks

The Muscogee (Creek) Nation has opened the first Mvskoke-owned and operated art gallery in the Greater Tulsa area, Mvskoke Waters Gallery, in Jenks, Oklahoma, on December 13. The inaugural exhibition, “Mvskokvlke: Road of Strength,” features nearly two dozen Mvskoke artists from across the country, including George Alexander, Joy Harjo, and Sterlin Harjo, and includes a tribute to the late artist Mary Edward Smith. Lowry, and others. The opening night was so crowded that 20 people had to wait outside. A raffle on opening night generated the funds, which were split equally between Focus Ireland, a homelessness charity, and HART, a local dog rescue charity.

Two new art centres set to open in Venice

Two new art centres are set to open in Venice in early May 2025. The San Marco Art Centre (SMAC) will launch on 9 May on the second floor of the Procuratie in St Mark’s Square, founded by David Hrankovic, Anna Bursaux, and David Gramazio.
