Corcoran students commemorate America’s 250th year with interactive art exhibit

Graduate students at the Corcoran School of the Arts & Design, part of George Washington University, have created an interactive exhibition titled “American Made” to commemorate the United States’ 250th anniversary. The exhibit, on view at the Luther W. Brady Art Gallery until May 14, combines 21 traditional artworks from GW’s collection—including photographs, pottery, and textiles—with interactive elements such as a touchscreen map and audio components. The project was developed collaboratively by students in museum studies and interactive design programs, led by professors Laura Schiavo and Sam Shelton, as part of the school’s annual NEXT Festival. Featured works include Patricia Kennedy-Zafred’s contemporary quilt “Tagged,” which addresses the incarceration of Japanese Americans during World War II.

A solo exhibition titled "Beyond Imagination" by Canadian artist Jack Lockhart is on view at the Alex Dufresne Art Gallery in Callander. The show features roughly 35 paintings spanning 60 years of Lockhart's career, highlighting his evolution from traditional watercolour, acrylic, and oil painting to innovative 3D works created using ChromaDepth glasses.

International environmental artist Sandra Hansen's exhibition 'Our Exquisite Pollution Series: Under the Sea' is on view at the Evanston Art Center from March 28 to April 26. The show features large-scale marine scenes made from handmade paper and repurposed plastics, including a 12-foot paper whale and kelp columns braided from hundreds of plastic bags, all highlighting the impact of plastic pollution on oceans. Hansen began the series in 2014 after learning about agricultural runoff in Lake Erie and has since collected beach trash to incorporate into her conceptual art.

Troy artist's work to be displayed at Starworks

The city of Santa Clarita is inviting artists to submit artwork for the "Animal Kingdom" juried exhibition, which will be on view at the Newhall Community Center from June 24 through August 26. The submission deadline is Sunday, June 7. The exhibition celebrates the diversity and beauty of animals, accepting all mediums including painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, textiles, and mixed media. Artists must hand-deliver their properly wired artwork, with a maximum size of 40" x 50" and weight of 20 pounds. Submissions are accepted via an online form, and artists will be notified of results two to three days after the deadline.

WNC 2026 Student Art Show happening now through May 7 at Bristlecone Gallery

Western Nevada College’s annual Student Art Show is now on view at the Bristlecone Gallery through May 7, 2026. The exhibition features 2-D works (paintings, drawings, prints) and 3-D sculptures submitted by enrolled WNC students, with submissions accepted until April 17.
