Taking It to the Next Level: 2025 Zuccaire Gallery Senior Show & URECA Art Exhibition

Nearly 150 pieces of student art are on display at the Zuccaire Gallery’s annual Senior Show & URECA Art Exhibition, held on the first floor of the Staller Center at Stony Brook University. The exhibition features works by students such as Hunter Moore, who created an acrylic landscape titled 'Beginning of the End' and a bronze goat sculpture exploring religious themes, and Juno Stuelke, whose piece 'Manic' addresses mental health. The show includes more sculptures than previous years, record-breaking attendance of 250 at the opening reception, and awards such as the Staller Center Award for Excellence, won by Nicholas Simms for his installation of 100 ceramic cassette tapes.

Mississippi: A return to the Cocoon

VIBE Studio JXN in Jackson, Mississippi, has extended the run of its exhibition "Mississippi: A return to the Cocoon" through May 31, after discovering its themes coincidentally align with the new blockbuster film "Sinners," which is also set in Mississippi. The exhibit features works by Mississippi native Tony Luelle Chalmers, who explores the dark history of Black American culture and its connections to gospel and blues music, even creating his own hieroglyphic language to symbolize survival and death during the transatlantic slave trade.

Barnstable Town Hall ARTIST SPOTLIGHT – Barnstable High School Studio Art 3 & 4 Students Art Exhibition

Barnstable Town Hall's Artist Spotlight program is hosting an exhibition of work by Barnstable High School Studio Art 3 & 4 students, on display in the James H. Crocker, Jr. Hearing Room and Selectmen’s Conference Room through June 30, 2025. The show includes portraits created for the Memory Project, a global initiative in which students make handmade portraits for disadvantaged children, this year featuring children in India, alongside a digital photography showcase by first-year students in the school's Digital Photography program.

A Creative Culmination

Three graduating seniors at Syracuse University—Lily Ryan, Rumini “Rumi” Nguyen, and Zoe Requena Bustillo—are preparing capstone projects for a final exhibition at the Warehouse Gallery, culminating their studio arts B.F.A. program. Ryan’s work explores queer identity, nostalgia, and the uncanny through mixed-media tinkering; Nguyen crochets objects from memory to process homesickness; and Requena Bustillo creates a puppet theater addressing Venezuelan history, displacement, and immigration.

Arts center, gallery space to open in downtown Redmond

The Dry Canyon Arts Association (DCAA) will open the Dry Canyon Community Arts Center in downtown Redmond later this year, occupying 3,000 square feet (eventually 4,500) of the historic Rogers & Lynch Building at SW 6th and Deschutes Ave. The space will include three classrooms, a gift shop, and 2-3 galleries, with plans for art studios and workshops. DCAA takes possession on August 1 and hopes to host a grand opening that week. The project is funded through grants, donations, memberships, and corporate sponsorships, with about $38,000 raised toward an estimated $80,000 renovation cost.

Printmaking takes center stage at JAX District exhibition

Printworks, an exhibition hosted by the Personage concept store and studio in Riyadh's JAX art district, showcases print-based works by artists, designers, and architects. Curated by Koren Dasoar and Dana Qabbani, the event aims to fill a gap in the local art community by supporting emerging talent and fostering public engagement through an open-door policy. The exhibition features artists including Hayat Osama, Naif Alquba, and the TwoMeem collective, and includes both existing artworks and a live screen-printing studio where visitors can learn about the process and purchase made-to-order prints.

ExPLOT Studio, a shared artist studio in Yokohama's Minato Mirai 21 district, is calling for residents for the 2025 fiscal year. Managed by the ExPLOT Studio Utilization Council (secretariat: BankART1929), the studio is located in the PLOT48 complex and offers long-term (8 months) and short-term (3 months) spaces for artists and creators. Applications are due by June 15, 2025, with selection based on compatibility with shared use, participation in open studios, and activity rate. The studio aims to foster cross-disciplinary exchange among art, business, IT, welfare, and academia.
