Taking It to the Next Level: 2025 Zuccaire Gallery Senior Show & URECA Art Exhibition

Nearly 150 pieces of student art are on display at the Zuccaire Gallery’s annual Senior Show & URECA Art Exhibition, held on the first floor of the Staller Center at Stony Brook University. The exhibition features works by students such as Hunter Moore, who created an acrylic landscape titled 'Beginning of the End' and a bronze goat sculpture exploring religious themes, and Juno Stuelke, whose piece 'Manic' addresses mental health. The show includes more sculptures than previous years, record-breaking attendance of 250 at the opening reception, and awards such as the Staller Center Award for Excellence, won by Nicholas Simms for his installation of 100 ceramic cassette tapes.

Birmingham city centre outdoor art exhibition now Open to visit

The Birmingham Open 25 outdoor art exhibition has opened in Birmingham city centre, organized by Central BID and Colmore BID. The free, annual exhibition returns for its second year, showcasing emerging artists from the Birmingham area under the theme "LIGHT," inspired by the first Birmingham Light Festival. The top 10 shortlisted artworks are displayed at Snow Hill Square, with additional works at Victoria Square near the Floozie fountain. Visitors can vote for the 'People's Choice' award via QR code. Communication Arts Student Art Exhibition open at Schulman Gallery

The 2025 Communication Arts Student Art Exhibition is on display through June 6 at the Schulman Gallery on the campus of Luzerne County Community College (LCCC). The opening night on May 9 drew a large crowd to celebrate student talent, highlighted by the President’s Choice Awards presented by LCCC President John Yudichak and Schulman Gallery Curator Robert Husty. Awards were given in categories including Mixed Media, Sculpture/3-Dimensional Art, Illustration, Photography, Painting, Music Recording Technology, Best Portfolio, and Best of Show, with winners such as Karla Richiez, Jenna Tutorow, Antonio Solis Jr., Amber Jones, Sydney Ogle, Evan Wenner, and Ashley Duran. The awards were sponsored by Marquis Art & Frame.

Karin Skiba’s 50-Year Retrospective at the Hi-Desert Artists Gallery holds opening reception tonight (5/17)

Karin Skiba's 50-year retrospective, titled "Tapestries, Paper, and Paint," opens May 17 at the Hi-Desert Artists Gallery in Yucca Valley during the Yucca Valley Artwalk. The exhibition runs through June 16 and features large-scale collages of Detroit's decaying architecture, fictional portraits of women, and works layered with beads and symbolic feathers. Barnstable Town Hall ARTIST SPOTLIGHT – Barnstable High School Studio Art 3 & 4 Students Art Exhibition

Barnstable Town Hall's Artist Spotlight program is hosting an exhibition of work by Barnstable High School Studio Art 3 & 4 students, on display in the James H. Crocker, Jr. Hearing Room and Selectmen’s Conference Room through June 30, 2025. The show includes portraits created for the Memory Project, a global initiative in which students make handmade portraits for disadvantaged children, this year featuring children in India, alongside a digital photography showcase by first-year students in the school's Digital Photography program.

Local creatives impress judges

The Arrowtown Photography Competition, part of the Arrowtown Autumn Festival, awarded first place to Hazel Alviola for her black-and-white image 'Needhams Cottage'. Alviola, who only began photography last year, expressed disbelief at her win. Judges Todd Weeks and Leigh Jeffery also introduced a 'highly commended' award for Martin Barwood's wildlife photo 'White Faced Heron'. In the concurrent Bayleys Arrowtown Autumn Fest Art Exhibition, Jane Burdon won the $3,500 premier painting award, while Jade Barclay took the $750 best local painting award. Other winners included Lynne Fellows, Lynn Brochere Millar, Olivia Pickney, and Diana Turnbull Anderson, with merit awards given to Angus Milne, Jenny Hill, Tracey Morrow, and Jos Browning.

Cultural Affairs Bureau calls for exhibition proposals for the Collateral Exhibitions of “Art Macao”

The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) of the Macao SAR Government has issued an open call for exhibition proposals for the Collateral Exhibitions of "Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale 2025." Local contemporary art professionals and organizations are invited to submit proposals for exhibitions that will run between July 19 and October 12, 2025, with venues chosen by the selected teams. The deadline for submissions is May 23, 2025, and proposals will be evaluated by Chief Curator Feng Boyi based on curatorial concept, quality, theme relevance, and feasibility.

Opening of Burmica at Suvannabhumi Art Gallery

The solo exhibition "Burmica" by artist Ubatsat has opened at Suvannabhumi Art Gallery on Huay Kaew Road, opposite Kad Suan Kaew. The show presents "The People’s History of Burma" and will run until 1 July 2022.

Open Call for Exhibition Proposals for Collateral Exhibition of “Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale 2025”

The Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government has issued an open call for exhibition proposals for the Collateral Exhibition of “Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale 2025.” The biennale, guided by the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture and co-organized by major casino and resort groups, will feature six sections including the Main Exhibition, Public Art Exhibition, City Pavilion, Special Exhibition, Local Curatorial Project, and Collateral Exhibition. Eligible applicants include Macao-registered organizations and residents aged 18 or older, with proposals centered on the theme “Hey, what brings you here?” The deadline for submissions is May 23, 2025, and the final selection will be made by chief curator Feng Boyi.

Rossett School art exhibition showcases students’ talents

Rossett School's art exhibition, part of the Red Kite Learning Trust's showcase, was held on March 26th at the Trust Central Office Gallery, featuring artwork from Year 9, 10, and 12 students. Curated by Art Lead Mrs Lynda Dean, the display includes diverse styles and mediums, with an open evening that drew students, families, staff, and trustees for a celebratory event. The exhibition will run until September 2025, after which another school in the Trust will take over the gallery space.

The annual spring show features over 100 original artworks selected from more than 300 submissions by students in kindergarten through 12th grade from public, private, and homeschool backgrounds across the region. Entries were evaluated by a juried panel based on first impression, originality, and artist's perspective, with awards given in three grade-level divisions and a Best of Show prize.
