Iris Cantor, the prolific art collector and philanthropist whose patronage transformed major American institutions, has died at the age of 95 in Palm Beach, Florida. Alongside her late husband, B. Robert Wiesenberger has been appointed as the new senior curator of contemporary art at the Brooklyn Museum. The position had been vacant since 2023, following the departure of Eugenie Tsai after 15 years. Wiesenberger is moving from his current role as a curator of contemporary art at the Clark Art Institute in Massachusetts.

The Henry and Rose Pearlman Foundation has announced the distribution of its 63-work collection of Impressionist, Post-Impressionist, and modern art among three major US museums: the Brooklyn Museum (29 works), the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA, 6 works), and the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA, 28 works). The collection includes pieces by Chaïm Soutine, Edgar Degas, Amedeo Modigliani, Vincent van Gogh, Édouard Manet, and Paul Cézanne. The Brooklyn Museum will present "Monet and Venice" from October 11, 2025, to February 1, 2026, the first major exhibition in over a century dedicated to Claude Monet's Venetian cityscapes. The show reunites nineteen of Monet's Venetian paintings alongside more than one hundred artworks, books, and ephemera, placing them in context with works by Canaletto, John Singer Sargent, J. M. W. The Brooklyn Museum has announced its summer 2025 exhibition lineup, featuring a diverse range of installations.
