Women’s Work: The art of Dana Boussard (museum exhibition)

In 1973, three pioneering women artists—Lela Autio, Dana Boussard, and Nancy Erickson—proposed an exhibition of their soft sculpture at the University of Montana in Missoula, but were denied because their work was dismissed as "women's work." Undeterred, they staged the show in the empty Carnegie Library building in 1974, and a year later the Missoula Art Museum (MAM) was founded. Now, MAM's special exhibition "Women's Work" celebrates the museum's 50th anniversary by featuring works from these three artists, including three pieces by Dana Boussard: "The Rialto" (1971), "Sister" (1970), and "Another Time, Another Place" (1970). The exhibition honors the radical spirit of the original 1974 show and the fiber-art movement, which gained momentum alongside the women's movement and feminist art.

Antony Gormley: ‘Everything I make now is a surprise to me’

Antony Gormley, the British sculptor best known for public works like *Angel of the North* and *Another Place*, is opening his first solo exhibition in Seoul this September, titled *Inextricable*, simultaneously at White Cube and Thaddaeus Ropac. The shows coincide with Frieze Seoul and explore how urban infrastructure shapes human consciousness. Gormley also discusses his ongoing collaboration with Japanese architect Tadao Ando at Museum SAN, where their permanent installation *Ground* (2025) is on view, and reflects on past unrealized projects in Korea, including a utopian proposal with the Kim Dae-jung Foundation.

Illinois art and design faculty explore stories about place in Krannert Art Museum exhibition

Eleven artists from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign School of Art & Design explore the relationship between people and place in a new exhibition at Krannert Art Museum. Titled “Another Place: Storymaking the Entangled Prairie,” the show opens January 29 and runs through July 2, featuring sculpture, installation, photography, printmaking, video, and performance. Curated by art history professor Terri Weissman, the exhibition is tied to the Humanities Research Institute’s 2025-26 theme “Story and Place.” Works include Ryan Griffis’s multimedia project on the Illinois River Valley, Stephen Signa-Avilés’s wearable sculptural assemblage “The Recollector,” and Melissa Pokorny’s prairie-inspired installation.
