Fibre Arts Australia touring exhibit highlights 39 artists

Fibre Arts Australia's third International Art Textile Biennale is now touring Australia, featuring 39 textile artists from 10 countries. The exhibition will visit nine galleries across the country through September 2026. At its debut at East Gippsland Art Gallery, three Australian artists received biennale awards: Sue Coppock won the Major Award (AU$2,000) for her embroidered fencing mask 'Are You Wearing a Mask Right Now?', Claudia Mazzotta won the Australian Excellence Award for 'Untouched Terrains', and Nicola Oliver won the Glenys Mann Award for 'Shadows Where Life Once Was'.

The 81st May Show fills Mansfield Art Center with Ohio creativity

The 81st May Show has opened at the Mansfield Art Center in Ohio, featuring over 100 works selected from nearly 600 submissions by guest juror Wendy Earle, curator of the Akron Art Museum. The exhibition, which runs through the end of May, showcases a diverse range of mediums from Ohio artists aged 16 to their late 80s. Awards include the Fred "Fritz" Culler Award for Best of Show to Bradley Wallace for "Venus 1K Views," the Mechanics Bank Award of Excellence to Barbara Morejon and Luanne Bole-Becker, and the Jeff McBride & Maura Teynor Emerging Artist Award to high school senior Katerina Prykodko.

St. Albert student art exhibition elicits 'wow' factor

The 30th annual High Energy exhibition at the Art Gallery of St. Albert (AGSA) features over 120 artworks from students at three local high schools: École Secondaire St. Albert Catholic High School, Paul Kane High School, and Bellerose Composite High School. The 2025 theme, 'Look Up and Marvel,' encourages exploration of wonder and perspective. Curator Emily Baker notes a rise in car and truck imagery due to changing student demographics, alongside recurring subjects like music celebrities, fantasy landscapes, and pop culture. Bellerose marks Black History Month with pieces honoring figures such as Zendaya, Nina Simone, and Tupac Shakur. The exhibition opens May 8 with a reception where six Christopher Kazaleous Awards will be presented.

El Centro to host reception Sunday for Enriquez “Lotería” art show

The exhibition features vibrant paintings inspired by the traditional Mexican game of Lotería, blending cultural heritage with personal family memories and humor. The show marks a significant homecoming for the artist, whose family roots in San Marcos date back generations.
