The gift, drawn from the collection of late financier Howard Stein, spans the 19th century to the present and includes works by over 450 artists, with highlights from Eugène Atget, Nadar, Alfred Stieglitz, Dora Maar, László Moholy-Nagy, Man Ray, Berenice Abbott, Walker Evans, Dorothea Lange, Mary Ellen Mark, and contemporary figures like Adam Fuss and Cindy Sherman. The donation also includes a grant for cataloging and housing, and comes as the VMFA plans five new photography galleries opening in 2027.

Fotografia Europea, the major photography festival in Reggio Emilia, returns for its 21st edition from April 30 to June 14, 2026, under the theme "Fantasmi del quotidiano" (Ghosts of the Everyday). The official circuit features twenty exhibitions across historic venues such as Chiostri di San Pietro, Palazzo da Mosto, and Palazzo dei Musei, as well as modern spaces like Spazio Gerra and Collezione Maramotti. Highlights include works by Felipe Romero Beltrán (winner of the KBr Photo Award 2025), Mohamed Hassan, Salvatore Vitale, Marine Lanier, Ola Rindal, Tania Franco Klein, Giulia Vanelli, Frédéric D. MUUS Collection Acquires Todd Webb Archive, Expanding Its Story of 20th-Century American Photography

MUUS Collection has acquired the archive of American photographer Todd Webb (1905–2000), adding approximately 15,000 prints, 50,000 negatives, ephemera, and his extensive journal to its holdings. Webb is known for his evocative postwar images of New York and Paris, as well as his travels across the American West, Great Britain, New Guinea, and Africa. The archive documents his relationships with key figures such as Alfred Stieglitz, Georgia O'Keeffe, Walker Evans, and Berenice Abbott, and will join works by Rosalind Fox Solomon, Larry Fink, and Deborah Turbeville in the collection.

David Plowden’s Iowa Exhibit Opening Reception Today at 4:00 PM

The Sioux City Art Center is hosting an opening reception today at 4:00 PM for an exhibition of black-and-white photographs by David Plowden, titled "David Plowden’s Iowa." The show features 90 images taken from the 1960s through the 2000s, documenting Iowa’s rural communities, agricultural landscapes, barns, grain elevators, and small-town structures.
