The more, the merrier: DPR Gallery newest creative space in area’s thriving art scene
The DPR Gallery, a new contemporary art space, opened in downtown Lake Charles, Louisiana, on Thursday night with an inaugural exhibition titled "Rebirth" by multidisciplinary artist Peregrine Honig. The gallery, located at 104 W Pujo St., was founded by Paul Picheloup alongside friends Derrick Guidry and Ryan Jett, with the name "DPR" originating from a travel itinerary nickname given by art history professor Bridget McDaniel. Honig's show features works exploring femininity, identity, and cultural memory through fairy tales and folklore, and the gallery aims to contribute to the region's growing art scene.
