This Week at LACMA

This week at LACMA features the opening of Tavares Strachan's first museum exhibition in Los Angeles, "The Day Tomorrow Began" (October 12, 2025–March 29, 2026), with immersive multisensory installations including uncanny everyday spaces, a field of rice grass with ceramic figures, and monumental bronze sculptures. This Week at LACMA

LACMA announces a week of programming from August 18–24, headlined by the opening of *Now Showing: Youssef Nabil’s I Saved My Belly Dancer*, an exhibition featuring the artist’s 2015 video starring Tahar Rahim and Salma Hayek, alongside related photographs and Egyptian movie posters. Member previews run August 21–23 before the public opening on August 24. Other highlights include a mindful evening with Buddhist art tied to the ongoing exhibition *Realms of the Dharma: Buddhist Art Across Asia*, plus concerts, workshops, and family programs.

Longmont Museum expansion to bring bigger galleries and experiences for all ages

The Longmont Museum in Colorado has successfully raised $10.2 million for a 7,000-square-foot expansion, surpassing its original funding goal. The project, largely funded by a $6 million gift from the Stewart Family Foundation, will introduce a dedicated children's gallery, a permanent history gallery, and a larger 4,000-square-foot space for major art exhibitions. Construction is set to begin in July 2025, with the first major art show, a photographic portrait of Frida Kahlo, scheduled for October 2026.

The Children's Gallery in Tampere, Finland, is presenting two exhibitions this spring. At the Culture House Laikku, schoolchildren from Wivi Lönn School (grades 1, 2, 5, and 7) display imaginative park designs through June 14. Simultaneously, the Lielahti Manor Cultural Centre features babies' art created during Rulla's Colour Immersion course, on view from May 7 to June 2, 2026. Both exhibitions are free and open to the public.
