Trout Museum exhibit and lecture hall honor Li Hu’s legacy at UW-Oshkosh and beyond

The Trout Museum of Art in Appleton, Wisconsin, opened a retrospective exhibition and named a lecture hall in honor of Li Hu, the late UW-Oshkosh emeritus art professor. The event, titled "A Tribute to Li Hu: Celebrating a Visionary Legacy," included a ribbon cutting for the Li Hu Lecture Hall, a panel discussion featuring former students and colleagues, and an exhibition of Hu's sculptural and painted works spanning his career. Hu, who died in 2016, was born in Shanghai, survived the Cultural Revolution, earned a degree from Shanghai University Fine Arts College, and moved to the U.S. in the early 1990s before teaching at UW-Oshkosh for nearly two decades. The exhibition is on view through January 4, 2026.

Fourth annual Student Art Exhibition adds more artists and expands sponsors

Marquette University held its fourth annual Student Art Exhibition on April 23, 2026, at the Lemonis Center for Student Success, featuring ten student artists each awarded a $500 stipend to create works around themes such as “Culture & Career,” “Defining Success,” “Belonging at Marquette,” and “Expanding Horizons.” The event, organized by Career Center director Courtney Hanson, included pieces by Jessica Wrobel and Salo Aristizabal, among others, and was sponsored by the Career Center, the Division of Belonging and Student Affairs, the Lemonis Center, Raynor Library, and Enterprise Mobility.

Lemonis Center for Student Success displays student art in annual exhibition

The third Student Art Exhibition was held on April 24 at the Lemonis Center for Student Success at Marquette University, featuring eight student artworks centered on themes of "Culture & Career," "Inclusivity at Marquette," and "Defining Success." Organized by Courtney Hanson, director of the Career Center, the exhibition was sponsored by the Lemonis Center, the Office of Inclusion and Belonging, and Enterprise Mobility. Student artists from various colleges—including Nursing, Engineering, Arts & Sciences, and Communication—submitted proposals and received a $500 stipend to create their pieces, which are now on permanent display alongside works from previous years.

Pop-up exhibition highlights art from diverse artists

Binghamton University Art Museum (BUAM) is hosting a pop-up exhibition curated from its permanent collection of over 4,000 pieces, with each work selected by a member of the Binghamton University community. The exhibition was conceived by Richard Quiles, a diversity education coordinator and former museum intern, who collaborated with museum director Diane Butler and preparator Jessica Petrylak to invite faculty and staff to choose artworks that resonate with their identities and write reflection essays. The show includes paintings, prints, and works by prominent Black artists, and will run during Celebrate Diversity Month.
