SOPAC's Herb + Milly Iris Gallery presents "INSPIRED MINDS: Young Artist Exhibition"

The South Orange Performing Arts Center (SOPAC) presents "INSPIRED MINDS: Young Artist Exhibition" in its Herb + Milly Iris Gallery from May 14 through August 16, 2026. Over 300 students from 20 area high schools submitted more than 1,000 original works; 70 pieces were selected for the show, spanning photography, digital art, painting, drawing, sculpture, fiber arts, and ceramics. An opening reception will be held on May 14.

The opening will also feature the third annual Paul Bartick Emerging Artist Award, presented to Obenewaa Frimpomaa, a senior at Millburn High School recognized for her work on identity and empowerment.

The South Orange Performing Arts Center (SOPAC) will open the INSPIRED MINDS: Young Artist Exhibition in its Herb + Milly Iris Gallery on May 14, 2026, with a free public reception at 5:00 PM. Over 300 students from 20 area high schools submitted more than 1,000 original works across media including photography, digital art, painting, drawing, sculpture, fiber arts, and ceramics; 70 pieces were selected for the exhibition. The show is sponsored by the Iris Family Foundation and features professional installation, a formal reception, and opportunities for students to sell their work.

INSPIRED MINDS: Young Artist Exhibition Opens May 15 at SOPAC

The South Orange Performing Arts Center (SOPAC) announced the return of the INSPIRED MINDS: Young Artist Exhibition, a showcase of visual art by high school students from Essex County, running from May 15 to August 17, 2025, in the Herb + Milly Iris Gallery. The opening reception on May 15 will also feature the third annual Paul Bartick Emerging Artist Award, presented to Millburn High School senior Obenewaa Frimpomaa, a Scholastic National Gold Art Medalist whose work explores identity, history, and empowerment of underrepresented voices.

Columbia High School Senior Wins Merit Award at Statewide Art Exhibition

Columbia High School senior Francie Christensen won a Merit Award for her photograph "Sarah" at the Art Administrators of New Jersey (AANJ) Emerging Artists Exhibition. The awards ceremony was held at the James Howe Gallery at Kean University, recognizing exceptional high school visual artists from across the state.
