The Greenport Group: Vintage art at Floyd Memorial Library’s new exhibition

The Floyd Memorial Library in Greenport, New York, has opened a new exhibition titled "Stow Wengenroth + The Flacks: The Greenport Group," featuring works by lithographer Stow Wengenroth, his wife Edith Flack Ackley, and her sister Marjorie Flack. The show includes Wengenroth's lithographs, watercolors, and drawings, alongside Ackley's handmade dolls and books, and Flack's children's books, many on loan from the private collection of Joanna Lane. The exhibition opened on April 24 and highlights the artistic legacy of these former Greenport residents.

Knight Artist-in-Residence Michael Takeo Magruder Showcases Art, Mentors Students

Michael Takeo Magruder, the Knight Fund Distinguished Artist-in-Residence at Knox College, presented a new exhibition titled "re:GeneratedPrairie" at the Borzello Art Gallery in the Ford Center for the Fine Arts from September 16-30, 2025. The show featured digital prints, canvases, 4K videos, and soundscapes inspired by the prairie burn and regrowth at Knox's Green Oaks ecological site. Magruder, who has held over 300 exhibitions in 35 countries, was invited by Knight Distinguished Chair Robert M. Geraci and also mentored students during his residency, helping them with exhibition setup, curation, and offering critiques.

New art gallery, shop opens in downtown Belleville on Art on the Square weekend

A new art gallery and retail shop, Public Defender Art + Zines, will open in downtown Belleville on May 15, 2026, coinciding with the Art on the Square festival. Owned by local artists Danny Houk and Stacie Spaunhorst, the space at 123 W. Main St. will feature exhibitions, a retail shop selling indie comics and zines, and future plans for artist residencies and networking brunches. Opening exhibitions include ceramics by Alisha Porter and Sheri White.

Work by artist Susan Hanson on display at UNE Campus Center through August 29

The University of New England (UNE) is hosting the art exhibition “Maine Moments” by artist Susan Hanson at the UNE Campus Center in Biddeford from July 29 to August 29. Hanson, a photographer and former art educator, works in oil, acrylic, and gouache paints, focusing on Maine’s seasonal landscapes. Her work has been shown in a dozen exhibits around Maine since 2011, and she self-published the book “Marsh Moods” after photographing the Scarborough Marsh for a year.
