The Museum of Contemporary Photography (MoCP) at Columbia College Chicago will host an exhibition titled “If Emmett Till Lived: Freedom on American Ground,” guest curated by Harvard professor Sarah Lewis. Opening September 3, the show draws from MoCP’s permanent collection and features 70 photographers—including Gordon Parks, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Dorothea Lange, and Carrie Mae Weems—to imagine the life Emmett Till might have lived had he not been lynched in 1955. The exhibition includes images of Chicago, the railways Till traveled, and milestones he missed, such as the Chicago Bulls phenomenon, Barack Obama’s election, and ongoing civil rights protests.

Jenkins Wallace, who came to the Ranch after a decade in academia seeking reinvention as a photographer and single mother, now leads workshops and invites visiting artists like Catherine Opie, Jess T. Dugan, and Paul Mpagi Sepuya. Her latest personal project documents altar boys across the United States.

Call for Applications: 2026–27 and 2027–28 Freund Teaching Fellowships

Washington University in St. Louis's Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts and the Saint Louis Art Museum are accepting applications for the 2026–27 and 2027–28 Henry L. and Natalie E. Freund Teaching Fellowships. The fellowship offers emerging and mid-career visual artists a $45,000 teaching award, studio space, access to WashU's facilities, and a solo exhibition at the Saint Louis Art Museum as part of its Currents series. Applicants must hold an MFA earned at least five years prior and have professional exhibition experience; prior teaching is not required. The deadline is September 1, 2025.
