The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation announced its 2025 class of 22 MacArthur Fellows, each receiving an $800,000 no-strings-attached grant. Among the winners are several visual artists: Garrett Bradley, known for her Oscar-nominated documentary *Time* (2020) and works centering Black resistance; Gala Porras-Kim, whose practice questions how art institutions convey or conceal information about objects; Tuan Andrew Nguyen, whose films and installations explore trauma and colonization; and Jeremy Frey, a seventh-generation Passamaquoddy basket maker whose midcareer survey is on view at the Bruce Museum. Photographers Matt Black and Tonika Lewis Johnson also received fellowships, along with archaeologist Kristina Douglass and non-artists such as novelist Tommy Orange and astrophysicist Kareem El-Badry.

Robert Koch Gallery, a founding member of AIPAD, will present a group exhibition at The Photography Show 2026, held at the Park Avenue Armory in New York City from April 22–26. The gallery's booth B6 will feature the premiere of key early Edward Burtynsky images in a larger 48 × 60–72 inch format, previously unavailable at that scale, along with recent mine tailing images shown for the first time. Also on view will be photographs from Matt Black's American Geography and New World Atlas series, works by Mimi Plumb, whose retrospective is currently at the High Museum of Art, and pieces by historic photographers including Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Frank, Helen Levitt, and Man Ray.

Vietnamese sculptor and visual artist Tuan Andrew Nguyen has unveiled a 27-foot-tall sandstone Buddha sculpture titled *The Light That Shines Through the Universe* (2026) on New York's High Line Plinth, at the intersection of 10th Avenue and 30th Street. The monumental work is the newest commission for the elevated park's public art program and will remain on view for the next 18 months.
