The artist lineup and thematic framework for the tenth edition of the British Art Show have been revealed. Curated by Ekow Eshun and titled 'A Chorus of Strangers,' the exhibition will feature 30 artists, including Alex Margo Arden, Liz Johnson Artur, and Jesse Darling, and will tour five UK cities from October 2026 to June 2028, beginning in Coventry.
Ekow Eshun has been named curator of the 10th edition of the British Art Show, the UK's largest recurring contemporary art exhibition. The show will open in Coventry in September 2026 and travel to four other cities—Swansea, Bristol, Sheffield, and Newcastle/Gateshead—until March 2028. Eshun, former director of the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London and curator of the acclaimed exhibition *In the Black Fantastic* at the Hayward Gallery, will select artists and works over the next year, with new commissions expected.
Rotherham-born, Sheffield-based textile artist Jodie Cooper, who specializes in free-motion embroidery, discusses her journey from completing a degree in Fine and Applied Arts at University Centre Rotherham to becoming a full-time artist. She was commissioned by ArtWorks Together International and East Midlands Railway to create a tactile tapestry installation at Sheffield Train Station, running until 15 June, which explores themes of travel anxiety, neurodiversity, and accessibility. Cooper also shares her work through ArtWorks Together International Festival at Millennium Gallery and local art markets.
Nantwich Museum is inviting artists to submit up to three pieces of visual artwork on the theme of 'Heritage' for its 2026 Open Art Exhibition. The exhibition will run from March 31 to June 20, 2026, at the museum's Pillory Street venue, with selected works displayed in the Millennium Gallery. Submissions can include paintings, drawings, textiles, black-and-white photographs, or sculpture, and the deadline for applications is January 9, 2026. A cash prize will be awarded to the most popular artwork chosen by visitor votes, and all accepted pieces will receive a unique certificate.
