‘Ralph Steadman: And Another Thing’ showcases 60 years of the artist’s uncanny, unique perspective

The Bates College Museum of Art will open 'Ralph Steadman: And Another Thing' on June 6, a major exhibition spanning 60 years of the artist and illustrator's career. Featuring 149 objects, the show includes works from Steadman's collaborations with Hunter S. Thompson, political commentary, and literary illustrations, along with a life-size bronze sculpture 'Vintage Dr. Gonzo' by Jud Bergeron. Monarch Alumna to Lead Next Chapter for Art Museum

Alison Byrne, who began as an intern at the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) in 2000, has been named the museum's executive director as of late September 2024. Over 25 years, she rose through roles including curator of education and deputy director, and was named Museum Art Educator of the Year by the Virginia Art Education Association in 2020. Byrne will lead the museum's relocation in 2026 to a new 35,000-square-foot facility at Virginia Wesleyan University, featuring a 21% increase in gallery space. The inaugural exhibition will showcase works by contemporary artist Nina Chanel Abney.

Exhibition featuring local artists now on display at Springfield Town Center

A new art installation has opened at Springfield Town Center in Fairfax County, Virginia, featuring seven works by three local artists—Tumôhq Abney, Jován Bethel, and Isabella Merlos. The exhibition, titled “ArtsFairfax Presents at Springfield Town Center,” is a collaboration between the mall and ArtsFairfax, the county's official arts agency, and was unveiled on October 16, 2025, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The show is part of ArtsFairfax’s month-long artoberVA celebration, organized in partnership with CultureWorks, and will remain on display through March 31, 2026, with all works available for purchase.
