Open Studios event in Fish Hoek and Clovelly: A celebration of local art

The inaugural Open Studios Fish Hoek and Clovelly (OSFHC) launched on October 3, showcasing the artwork of 19 local artists across 15 studios in the South African coastal communities of Fish Hoek and Clovelly over the weekend. A large-scale art installation was placed in the front windows of the 97-year-old family-run department store AP Jones to promote the event. Participating artists include Susan Didcott, Marlise Keith, Sue Kaplan, Yda Walt, Mandy Johnston, and organizer Lauren Shantall, with works ranging from sculpture and paint pieces to textile art and live material burns.

Elizabeth Smith and Sue Lowday unite for Isle of Wight Open Studios exhibition

Isle of Wight artist Elizabeth Smith will open her studio at Nightingales in Bonchurch from 17th to 25th May 2025 as part of the Isle of Wight Open Studios event. Her watercolour paintings and prints, including works from her Charting Ventnor series, capture the architecture and landscapes of the South Wight. Fellow artist and designer Sue Lowday, a former silversmith who now works in leather, will also exhibit at the same venue from 17th to 21st May, showcasing her handcrafted belts, bags, and other items.

One of Sheffield’s biggest art exhibitions to take place this weekend

Open Up Sheffield, an annual open studio event celebrating over 25 years of the city's cultural vibrancy, is holding its second leg this weekend on May 9-10. Over 140 artists across 90 venues are opening their homes and studios to the public, showcasing works from ceramics to paintings. The first leg took place over the Bank Holiday weekend, featuring artist Tom Heller, 80, who sells his work to benefit the charity Spreading Health, which trains nurses in Cameroon. The event is organized by a small committee on a not-for-profit basis and sponsored by RivelinCo.

Meet artists and makers at a free open-house art exhibition in Hare Hatch

Coach House Studios in Hare Hatch is hosting a free open-house art exhibition where 15 artists and makers will showcase their workspaces and sell unique pieces. The event, taking place on November 15-16, also features live music and cake, with proceeds from refreshments supporting Yeldall Manor, a Christian drug and alcohol rehabilitation center. Founder Steve Hedger, a woodworker, started the creative hub after a cardiac arrest in 2018, partnering with potter Vallari Harshwal in 2022 to build a community that offers creative opportunities for people in addiction recovery.

Dive Into San Francisco’s Art Scene At SF Open Studios This Fall

SF Open Studios, organized by the nonprofit ArtSpan, returns for its 40th anniversary in 2025, running from September 19 to October 19. The month-long event invites the public into hundreds of local artists' studios across San Francisco, divided by neighborhood each weekend, and includes a group exhibition at SOMArts, guided walking tours, and an Art Tasting event. Participating neighborhoods range from Noe Valley and the Mission to Hunters Point Shipyard Artists, with some "Choice Artists" hosting independent open-studio events throughout the month.
